NBA Week 13 - Start Em' and Sit Em' Fantasy Players

If you look at the NBA in the same fashion as the NFL then there are 25 weeks of NBA action. By breaking down each week and analyzing team schedules you can load your roster with players playing more games and sit those who are playing fewer games.

If all this sounds like a lot of work then you need not worry; because we have done the leg work for you. We are posting a weekly NBA start em’ and sit em’ fantasy guide to assist you in maximizing your fantasy roster potential.

Last week I recommended the Los Angeles Clippers combo of Chris Paul and Matt Barnes. The recommendation was partly due to the four game week the Clippers played but also took into account the fact that this week has the Clippers playing a whopping five games. So if you took my advice and played Paul and Barnes last week then let them ride again this week.

As mentioned the Clippers are the busiest team this week with five games. On the flip side, the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets have the lightest weeks with only two games apiece. This week in total is a very busy one with 108 games total league wide meaning that the majority of the teams are playing either a three or four game schedule. If you are looking to take a week off from making trades in hopes of stockpiling for season end; I would recommend this week as just such an opportunity.

Week 13 in the NBA starts January 21 and goes through to the evening games on January 27, 2013.

Blake Griffin – LA Clippers

Assuming you already have Chris Paul and potentially Matt Barnes in your lineup then look to add Blake Griffin to the group. Five games of Blake Griffin stats could be huge for your fantasy roster. At the very least if you have the complete trio you are sure to have it all covered; one might have a down night but the next guy will pick up the slack. Either way your fantasy roster still comes out ahead.

Greivis Vasquez – New Orleans Hornets

If you haven’t been paying attention to what has been going on in New Orleans then sit up straight and pay attention. The single biggest fantasy producer for the Hornets this year is not Anthony Davis or Eric Gordon it is in fact Greivis Vasquez. Vasquez has shown that he is no longer a sleeper pick; he has real value as an everyday fantasy option. Through the early games in January, Vasquez was averaging a double double with 17.6 ppg, 11 apg, 5.2 rpg and 1.2 steals per game. The Hornets have a nice four game week here and Vasquez will make a nice play for your roster.

Kenneth Faried & Danilo Gallinari – Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets drew the short stick this week as they only have two games. With only two games on the schedule neither the Manimal known as Kenneth Faried or Danilo Gallinari can be deemed fantasy options. Both these guys are having solid years and are giving solid fantasy production; just not this week. Think about not only sitting these guys for this week but looking ahead the Nuggets only have a three game week coming up; so give it a couple weeks before going to back to anyone from the Nuggets.
