If you look at the NBA in the same fashion as the NFL then there are 25 weeks of NBA action. By breaking down each week and analyzing team schedules you can load your roster with players playing more games and sit those who are playing fewer games.
If all this sounds like a lot of work then you need not worry; because we have done the leg work for you. We are posting a weekly NBA start em’ and sit em’ fantasy guide to assist you in maximizing your fantasy roster potential.
Week 14 in the NBA starts January 28 and goes through to the evening games on February 3, 2013.
WEEK 14 – START EM’
Kobe Bryant – LA Lakers
Kobe Bryant and the Lakers head into this week faced with four games, three of which come on the road. Nice thing is that all four games are against opponents with whom the Lakers should be able to get out and run meaning Bryant could garner some serious fantasy points this week for your roster. Back to back games heading into this week that were only one assist apiece short of a triple-double; Bryant is making an effort to involve his teammates more in the offense. When this happens Bryant shoots a better percentage, his fantasy numbers go up and the Lakers have a tendency to win games.
Stephen Curry – Golden State Warriors
This coming week represents some nice matchups for Stephen Curry as the Warriors travel into Toronto followed by a swing through Cleveland. After the two road games a rest day allows for the Warriors to return home to host Dallas and Phoenix. I like the four game weeks, especially when the road games and home games are clumped together; it is easier on the players and more productive for your fantasy roster. Curry should continue his early season’s success this week as none of these teams are particularly noted for their perimeter defense.
WEEK 14 – SIT EM’
Josh Smith & Al Horford – Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks are one of three teams who have the short week this go around and with only two games to rack up fantasy points Smith and Horford need to sit this one out. If you are relying on either of these guys on a consistent basis then look to drop both for an extended period of time as the Hawks schedule in the coming weeks is not conducive to scoring large in fantasy terms. If you can be patient enough; the Hawks play a nice stretch of four game weeks starting February 25th right through till April 9th. That is six consecutive weeks of four games in each.
Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook – Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder were due for a break as they just finished up a busy four week stretch that saw them play 16 games. This week they are only slated for two games so it is a good time to sit Durant and Westbrook down. The Thunder get right back at it next week with another four game stretch so make it a quick turnaround on these two guys and get them back onto your roster in time for next week.
