NBA Week 17 - Fantasy Must Starts

If you look at the NBA in the same fashion as the NFL then there are 25 weeks of NBA action. By breaking down each week and analyzing team schedules you can load your roster with players playing more games and sit those who are playing fewer games.

If all this sounds like a lot of work then you need not worry; because we have done the legwork for you. We are posting a weekly NBA start em’ and sit em’ fantasy guide to assist you in maximizing your fantasy roster potential.

Week 17 officially runs from February 19th through to the conclusion of game action on the 25th. Week 16 was the all-star break and while there were a few games of regular season action, it was the all-star weekend that stole the show. Now that the midway point is in the rearview mirror it is time to ramp up your fantasy roster and really maximize those available points.

Week 17 sees most teams setup with a three or four game work week; however, there are a few teams who have a slower week ahead. The Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers and the San Antonio Spurs all have the short week. This of course means that both LeBron James and Kevin Durant will best serve your roster on the sidelines for this week.

Looking at who you should start, I’d go with Detroit’s Brandon Jennings. Jennings has been one of the league’s most productive fantasy options over the last few weeks. The Piston’s have a nice schedule this week with three home games and a lone roadie into Charlotte.

Jennings’ slash line over the last ten games is a robust 22.6 ppg, 7.5 apg and 3.5 rpg. I’m liking Jennings to keep the hot hand going this week as he and the Pistons seem to be hitting their stride.

Let’s stay with backcourt options with our next pick for the week and go with Golden State’s Stephen Curry. Curry has been en-fuego the last ten games as he has seen his averages creep up to 29.1 ppg, 8.2 apg and 3.6 rpg.

Golden State has two road games against Sacramento and Detroit and they host Houston and Brooklyn. I like the matchups this week for Curry as these teams are defensively geared for protecting the paint. Curry will have free reign, as he usually does, to let the jumpers fly and these teams don’t have an answer to that.

As for a third option heading into this week I like Goran Dragic from Phoenix. Dragic has been a very pleasant addition for the Suns this season and his play has definitely fuelled the Suns playoff run. Dragic’s last ten games has produced a stat line of 23.7 ppg, 7.0 apg and 4.3 rpg.

Phoenix has a very favourable schedule this week as they have all four games at home. They host Boston, San Antonio, Houston and Minnesota. None of these teams have point guards that will cause matchup problems for Dragic. Dragic should have his way this week and continue his hot play.
