NBA Week 2 Power Rankings

With another week down in the NBA season it is time to see how teams fair in this week’s power ranking. Some teams have really emerged as serious contenders, while others are starting to show their true lack of talent. Let’s see where each team stands in this week’s power rankings.

1. Indiana Pacers

The Pacers stay at number one mainly because they are the only undefeated team left in the league. Paul George is looking like an all-star and this entire team is playing some great basketball.

2. Golden State Warriors

The Warriors stay at number two this week after solid wins against the Timberwolves, Kings and 76ers. Their lone loss of the season comes from a very competitive Clippers team.

3. Houston Rockets

The Rockets moved up one spot after beating the Blazers, Jazz, and Mavericks. James Harden and Dwight Howard are looking like a very dangerous duo.

4. San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs have put together some impressive wins over the Grizzlies, Lakers and Nuggets. However, a disappointing loss to Portland and a weak performance against the Suns causes the Spurs to drop one place

5. Miami Heat

After stumbling to two early losses, the Heat have won back to back games. Despite the slow start Miami looks as good as ever.

6. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder’s outlook on the season just got way brighter with the return of Russell Westbrook. Even with Westbrook back this teams needs one of its young players to step up.

7. Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers have been the best offensive team in the league. Unfortunately they have also been the worst defensively. Besides this fact, the trio of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan has been spectacular.

8. Detroit Pistons

The Pistons drop a spot after losing to two very good teams in the Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies. The Pistons have one of the most talented front courts in the NBA and they are looking like one of the top teams in the East.

9. Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves are looking like a legitimate contender in the West. If everyone can stay healthy, this is a dangerous team.

10. Brooklyn Nets

The Nets still have some things to fix before they can be true title contenders. This is still a very talented team and they should be just fine down the stretch.

11. Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks have two losses too some of the best teams in the West. This team is playing well and looks as if they can compete for a playoff spot.

12. Phoenix Suns

What is to be made of the Suns? They have two very close losses to the Spurs and Thunder and three solid wins,

13. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavs have been all over this season. They have impressive wins over the Timberwolves and Nets. They also have three losses from Charlotte, Milwaukee, and Indiana.

14. Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks have been inconsistent so far this season. On the brightside Al Horford is playing like one of the best centers in the NBA.

15. Orlando Magic

The Magic started the season with two tough losses to the Pacers and Timberwolves. They have followed these losses with three wins against the Pelicans, Nets, and Clippers.

16. Chicago Bulls

Even though the Bulls have an immense amount of talent on their roster they have yet to win many games. Their lone win came against a talented Knicks squad.

17. Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks have been up and down this season. Right now injuries are this team’s biggest enemy with both Brandon Knight and Ersan Ilyasova being hurt.

18. Portland Trail Blazers

The Blazers are a talented team this season. They suffered a disappointing loss to start the season; however, they rebounded nicely with two convincing victories.

19. New York Knicks

The Knicks have struggled to win games this season. They started off with a win against the Bucks but have now lost three straight.

20. New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans are another team that has looked very good at times but also very bad. Anthony Davis is playing like an all-star and that will help them win some games.

21. Memphis Grizzlies

Offense, or a lack thereof, has been the problem for the Grizzlies. Mike Conley has looked very impressive to start the season and will need to be the primary offensive contributor.

22. Charlotte Bobcats

The Bobcats have started off hot, winning three out of their last four. The Bobcats need Al Jefferson to get healthy if they hope to continue winning.

23. Toronto Raptors

The Raptors have been struggling so far this season. They will need improved production, especially on the offensive side of the ball, if they hope to turn things around.

24. Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers started off the season with an impressive win over the Clippers. Unfortunately, they have been absolutely terrible in their three losses since then.

25. Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets are a much better team than their record shows. I would expect the Nuggets to start turning things around in the coming games.

26. Philadelphia 76ers

They start off the season with three straight wins. They then follow those wins with two losses. Don’t let their record fool you, this is a bad team; even with the excellent play of Michael Carter-Williams

27. Washington Wizards

The Wizards have three tough losses to start the season. John Wall has been playing well but with a difficult upcoming schedule the Wizards might not get many wins.

28. Sacramento Kings

The Kings opened the season with an impressive win over the Nuggets. Since then they have lost four straight. And to make matters worse, DeMarcus Cousins has been very inconsistent.

29. Boston Celtics

The Celtics finally got their first win of the season. It just happened to be against the winless Jazz. On the brightside, Kelly Olynyk has been playing well these past two games.

30. Utah Jazz

The Jazz are the only winless team left in the NBA. Gordon Hayward has been playing extremely well, but that alone won’t save this team.
