NBA Week 20 - Fantasy Must Starts

If you look at the NBA in the same fashion as the NFL then there are 25 weeks of NBA action. By breaking down each week and analyzing team schedules you can load your roster with players playing more games and sit those who are playing fewer games.

If all this sounds like a lot of work then you need not worry; because we have done the legwork for you. We are posting a weekly NBA start em’ and sit em’ fantasy guide to assist you in maximizing your fantasy roster potential.

Week 20 in the NBA officially runs from March 12th through to the conclusion of action on March 18th. This is a great week to either pick up some points on your competition or better yet, distance yourself from the pack. The schedule for the week is all over the place. Numerous teams have only two games this week, more have the normal three and even better some have four game sets this week.

Let’s start with the teams whose players should be considered bench material given their light work week. The fantasy-stud laiden Detroit Pistons have only two games which means that Josh Smith, Andre Drummond and Brandon Jennings all need to hit the pine. This is a tough loss for many as this trio along with Greg Monroe have been top fantasy options all season long.

In addition to the Pistons, the Minnesota Timberwolves are also having a slow week. Now one must sit down one of the leagues absolute premier fantasy players in Kevin Love as well as the very serviceable Kevin Martin. As if this wasn’t enough Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks are also on the outs looking in for the week as they too have only two games to play.

Now that you know who not to play, let’s switch our focus onto who you should be stocking your roster with. To this regard start by looking at the Toronto Raptors. As a squad they have four games this week with three of those games coming at home (Detroit, Memphis and Phoenix) before they travel out to Atlanta to play the Hawks.

Now is a great time to play DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. The duo is the driving force behind the Raptors playoff push. Together they combine to account for more than 40 points a night for the Raps and each has the potential to go off for a whole lot more.

Historically DeRozan has not had great games against Memphis, Detroit and Phoenix; however, that was before he became the man in T.O and with the confidence I’m anticipating a huge week out of him. With Lowry running point and DeMar scoring from the perimeter the duo is poised for a big week here.

From Toronto we move to another Eastern Conference team in Philadelphia. The 76ers look to be wilting for Wiggins as the season winds down; however, despite their best efforts to be bad there is no holding back the super-rookie Michael Carter-Williams. This kid is fresh off his first career triple-double and he is riding a hot-hand right now. The 76ers have four games this week which should give plenty of opportunity to MCW to shine. Carter-Williams is averaging phenomenal numbers over his last five games. A stat line of 14.6 ppg, 8.2 rpg and 7.4 apg looks out of place next to a rookie’s name; however, MCW is a special kind of talent who can do it all on the court. Great time to pick him up and reap the rewards.
