NBA Week 22 - Fantasy Must Starts

If you look at the NBA in the same fashion as the NFL then there are 25 weeks of NBA action. By breaking down each week and analyzing team schedules you can load your roster with players playing more games and sit those who are playing fewer games.

If all this sounds like a lot of work then you need not worry; because we have done the legwork for you. We are posting a weekly NBA start em’ and sit em’ fantasy guide to assist you in maximizing your fantasy roster potential.

Week 22 in the NBA goes from March 26th through to the conclusion of action on April 1. During this stretch we see that it is a busy week in the NBA as all but two teams play either three or four games. The exceptions to this are the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Orlando Magic.

Since there are so many games it is imperative to ensure that you are maximizing your weekly points. We will focus on the teams with four games and those with favourable schedules likely to produce maximum points.

To this end we start in Brooklyn where the Nets have a single road game in Charlotte followed by three home games against Cleveland, Minnesota and Houston. None of these games are back-to-back so the aging veterans on the team should all see plenty of run this week. An added bonus to playing Brooklyn guys this week is that next week they are set up for another four game work week.

This is a good time to get Deron Williams and Joe Johnson  into your lineup. While neither has had a particularly great year, each could have a solid week here. Williams is averaging a career low in points per game; however, his play of late would suggest a late season surge. In William’s last five games he is averaging a slightly more robust 17.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg and 5.6 apg.

Johnson is just another Net among many who are not playing up to their career numbers this season. But similarly to Williams, Johnson is making a late season comeback of sorts. His last five games slash line looks like 20.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 2.8 apg; pretty solid numbers if they can be duplicated over the week.

Next up we have another teammate pairing; Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond from the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons have a four game work week ahead with one road game against Philadelphia and three home games against Cleveland, Miami and Milwaukee.

The twin towers in Motor City haven’t exactly been good for the team, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t contribute nicely to your fantasy roster. Monroe has been averaging a double-double throughout March with 16 ppg and 10.5 rpg. Drummond has been doing his part by chipping in with 13.6 ppg and 12.7 rpg over the same stretch. Pair this duo on your fantasy roster this week in hopes that they can dominate the smaller frontcourt teams they are matched up against.

Sticking with the teammate theme that seems to have emerged this week. Our next stop takes us to Washington where we see that the Wizards have three home games this week and a single roadie out to Charlotte. The duo of John Wall and Marcin Gortat are carrying the Wizards right now as they try to hold onto the sixth seed in the East.

The catalyst of the team is of course Wall who is averaging 19 ppg, 9.8 apg and 3.6 rpg in the month of March. A very nice compliment to Wall’s outside game has been that of Gortat’s inside presence. Marcin is averaging 13.7 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.5 apg and 1.6 blocks per game in March. This duo from the Nation’s capital is peaking at just the right time; put these guys into play this week and reap the rewards.
