If you look at the NBA in the same fashion as the NFL then there are 25 weeks of NBA action. By breaking down each week and analyzing team schedules you can load your roster with players playing more games and sit those who are playing fewer games.
If all this sounds like a lot of work then you need not worry; because we have done the leg work for you. We are posting a weekly NBA start em’ and sit em’ fantasy guide to assist you in maximizing your fantasy roster potential.
Week 3 was a busy one for many teams as 18 teams played four games during the week. Week four is not as busy; however, 13 teams are still playing four games. In addition to the teams with four games in the week, there is a scheduling anomaly this week.
The Boston Celtics are playing a five game week, making the C’s a must start for your fantasy team. On the flip side, the Los Angeles Clippers are having a slow week as they are only playing two games. This week’s fantasy breakdown focuses on these two teams.
Week 3 in the NBA starts November 12 and goes through to the evening games on November 18.
WEEK 3 – START EM’
Rajon Rondo & Paul Pierce – Boston Celtics
Rajon Rondo has become the Celtics defacto team leader; he is putting the early touches on an MVP caliber season. Through six games he is averaging 14.7 ppg, 13.3 apg, 4.5 rpg and 1.8 steals per game. Rondo is a must start this week, with five games the potential for a huge week is there.
Paul Pierce has been his usual self thus far; averaging 20.8 ppg, 3.3 apg and 6.8 rpg. Not sure what else to expect out of him as his production has been the model of consistency throughout his career. Even at 35 years of age and still logging heavy minutes, I would run him out there for each of the five games.
WEEK 3 – SIT EM’
Blake Griffin & Chris Paul – Los Angeles Clippers
It has not been a fantastic start to the year for Griffin. He is just not displaying that explosive scoring ability that we are accustomed too. It could be he is a little tentative or that his limited offensive skills are finally showing through. Either way his production is off from his career averages and what is alarming is that his scoring is down almost 6 points per game. If you have Blake Griffin on your roster, sit him down this week and hope that a light work week rejuvenates him as they head into the next week.
Chris Paul is just doing what Chris Paul does for the Clippers. Points, assists, steals and running the Clipper offense; he is doing everything that is being asked. Absolutely one of the league’s best point guards and he is putting together another solid season to solidify his standing. As good as Paul is, he won’t capture enough fantasy points in two games to justify keeping him in your starting lineup. Sit him this week and revaluate his spot next week.
