If you look at the NBA in the same fashion as the NFL then there are 25 weeks of NBA action. By breaking down each week and analyzing team schedules you can load your roster with players playing more games and sit those who are playing fewer games.
If all this sounds like a lot of work then you need not worry; because we have done the legwork for you. We are posting a weekly NBA start em’ and sit em’ fantasy guide to assist you in maximizing your fantasy roster potential.
Week 6 in the NBA runs from December 4 through to and including the evening games on December 10. During this week the majority of teams play either a three or four game schedule; however, Charlotte, New Orleans and Washington all play two game weeks. While this is fairly inconsequential in so much as Anthony Davis is hurt anyways and should already be on your sideline but also for the fact that the most productive fantasy player in the league over the past two weeks also needs to be sat down.
Thats right. John Wall from the Washington Wizards has posted the highest fantasy output over the past two weeks. If that took you by surprise, you will likely be shocked to know that it was Goran Dragic from the Phoenix Suns who was the second best fantasy produced over the same period.
On to this week though and with it we start by looking at the Detroit Pistons. Fresh off an impressive win against the Miami Heat the Pistons head into this week on a roll. Two players in particular have been significant during this time and I’m looking for them to keep the momentum going.
Andre Drummond has been an absolute beast of late. He has four consecutive double-double games which included a wicked 31 point, 19 rebound and 6 steal performance against Philadelphia. Drummond followed that stat-stuffing line up with a 10 point, 18 rebound game in the win against the Heat. Start Drummond again this week and look for him to continue his aggressive play.
Another Piston who is heating up is none other than the maligned Brandon Jennings. Things certainly seem to be turning around the point-guard of late as he looks to have found his groove in the Motor City. After a slow start to the season, Jennings is now shooting the ball better and is getting his teammates the ball in better scoring situations. The stats are back for Jennings and I’m counting on another solid week out of him.
Fortunately enough for most fantasy owners who simply set their roster on opening day and forget about it. This week sees LeBron James, Paul George, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony all play four games apiece.
While it is important to shake up your roster to maximize the available point, one can’t simply ignore the fact that many of the top fantasy players have busy weeks ahead. Avoid the temptation to over think things this week. Go with the obvious choices here and sprinkle in a few of your own gems. There is a reason why the previously mentioned players are fantasy-gods, play them when you can and this week is a perfect example of that time.
Finally, I offer a dark-horse fantasy pick for the week. This week I’m looking to the Denver Nuggets Timofey Mozgov to continue his stellar play. In the last two contests Mozgov is averaging an insane 16.5 ppg and 17.5 rpg. While Mozgov is still a backup he is proving to be a darn good one. His minutes are similar to those of a starter and yet his production is better than almost everyone else on the roster. The Nuggets have a nice four game stretch this week with all the games coming on the road. Despite the prolonged road trip, none of the teams are particularly strong as the trip sees stops in Cleveland, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington. While I suppose any team would be licking their chops for a four game stretch against sub-.500 teams in the East; Timofey has to be even more thrilled about the opportunity to showcase his talents.
