If you look at the NBA in the same fashion as the NFL then there are 25 weeks of NBA action. By breaking down each week and analyzing team schedules you can load your roster with players playing more games and sit those who are playing fewer games.
If all this sounds like a lot of work then you need not worry; because we have done the legwork for you. We are posting a weekly NBA start em’ and sit em’ fantasy guide to assist you in maximizing your fantasy roster potential.
Week 8 in the NBA goes from December 18 through to the evening games on the 24th. This week in the Association sees three teams who play two games apiece. The Portland Trailblazers, Philadelphia 76ers and the Washington Wizards are all on the short end of the schedule.
Given the schedule one must sit down some really solid fantasy options; LaMarcus Aldridge, Michael Carter-Williams and John Wall all need to hit the bench. The rest of the teams all play their usual three or four game set for the week.
One team in particular though is set up nicely for two back-to-back good weeks. The Houston Rockets play four games this week followed by a huge five game set during the christmas week. There is no busier team in the league during the next two weeks and now is a great time to capitalize on those extra couple games of fantasy stats.
Move James Harden and Dwight Howard into your lineup and forget about them for the next two weeks. There is some injury concern for Harden as it was revealed that he has a high ankle sprain that could cost him some game action. There are no such concerns for Howard and if Harden were to miss any time, look for the Rockets to pound the ball in the paint and assert their dominance.
Another move from the Rockets would be to have Chandler Parsons on your bench for the week. Parsons has been a very productive fantasy player and has been under the radar of many a fantasy general manager. His 17 ppg, 3.9 apg and 4.9 rpg are an excellent addition off the bench for your squad as there are many a starters out there who give you less.
The other team that I’m loving this week are the Phoenix Suns. They have a four game work week; however, three of those games are at home. The four games that they do have are against some favourable competition as they get the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets and the Dallas Mavericks.
The upstart Suns are creating matchup problems across the board as they can push the pace against slower teams and stretch the floor against the bigger ones. Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic are the horses in the race for the Suns and expect them to continue with their hot hands.
Bledsoe is back from injury and has picked up where he left off. His 19.2 ppg, 7.0 apg and 4.0 rpg in December are fantastic and he will see some success against the guard-weak opponents during this stretch. Dragic has seen his assist numbers go down a bit since the return of Bledsoe; however, he remains a very viable fantasy option. Dragic is scoring at over 21 ppg and he is capable of posting a triple-double every night out.
In addition to Bledsoe and Dragic, I’m enthralled by the play of the Morris brothers. Markieff Morris and Marcus Morris; while neither one of the guys start they each get about 24 minutes of action a night. If you are looking for a couple of guys that one can add to their roster fairly cheaply then look no further. This week will provide plenty of chances for the twins to shine and I expect them to put up some solid slash lines for the week.
