The Brooklyn Nets will give starting center Brook Lopez the day off Sunday against the Houston Rockets. At 8-31 on the season, Brooklyn is pretty much conceding it stands no chance to defeat Houston, so giving Lopez the day off makes some sense.
With their best player expected to be a spectator on the bench, look for Sean Kilpatrick to pick up the scoring slack. The third-year player is averaging 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting at a solid 35 percent clip from distance on the season.
The scoring will definitely have to come from somewhere if Brooklyn hopes to keep this game competitive into the second half. After all, Lopez is averaging 20.1 points per game, a number that represents about 18 percent of the team's scoring thus far on the season.
