The bad news first. New Orleans Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis had to depart Monday's game against the Indiana Pacers with injuries to both his hip and left thumb. He did not return to action, as the Pelicans lost by the score of 98-95.
The bood news: X-rays on Davis' injured hip and thumb came up negative. This means that the Pelicans' star was able to avoid a serious injury.
Banged up over the past year-plus, Davis has been an absolute monster on the court over the past two weeks. Prior to Monday's injury-shortened game, Davis was averaging nearly 28 points and 15.8 rebounds in his previous 10 outings.
It remains to be seen how long Davis might be out, but he has to be considered questionable for Wednesday's game against the Orlando Magic.
Davis finished Monday's outing with 16 points, three rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes. He was the Pelicans' leading scorer.
