Portland Trail Blazers Backcourt Putting on a Show

Following yet another stellar outing in a 112-104 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, All-Star snub Damian Lillard has put up an average of 35.8 points and 6.0 assists over the Portland Trail Blazers past five games (all wins).

Back-court partner, C.J. McCollum joined Lillard in scoring 34 points on Tuesday night. He's now put up 30-plus points in each of the past two games and has pushed his season average to 20.9 points per outing.

All this has led to a Blazers squad that ended Tuesday night tied for the sixth seed in the Westen Conference.

This is a pretty amazing accomplishment for a team that boasted a 15-24 record at the near midway point of the season. Since then, Portland has won 15 of 18 and is now in position to potentially earn a top-five seed out west.

From a fantasy perspective, Lillard has proven himself to be among the most consistent point guards in DFS contests this season. He's now averaging more points and assists per game than LeBron James. Just think about that for a second.

And in reality, Lillard's 51-point performance against the Golden State Warriors last week doesn't seem to be much of an outlier at this point. Shooting nearly 40 percent from three-point range while averaging 8.4 assists per game this month, the All-Star snub has upped his game big time recently.

As it relates to McCollum, he's also stepped up into a near must play in DFS contests. Now averaging 23.2 points over the past 14 games, the third-year guard has become much more consistent than we have seen in the past.

While not up to par with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in Golden State, this tandem is quickly making a name for itself, both in the fantasy basketball world and the real basketball world.
