Recapping NBA Playoffs: May 13t, 2014

We were treated to another fantastic night of basketball. Tuesday night featured two matchups, one between Western Conference rivals Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder, and the other between the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards. One game had an extremely exciting ending while the other was over by the third quarter. Whatever the result, these games never fail to disappoint.

Washington Wizards vs Indiana Pacers

The Pacers came into the game looking to win the series in front of their home crowd. Unfortunately, they were unable to do so as Washington got off to an early lead and never looked back, winning 102-79 . The biggest story of the night was the absolutely dominance of Washington on the glass. The Wizards out rebounded the Pacers 62-43, one of the largest margins in NBA playoff history. The  Wizards were led by Marcin Gortat who scored 31 points and added 16 rebounds. The Pacers were led by David West who led the team with 17 points. The Pacers as a team shot 40 percent from the field. The Pacers lead the series 3-2 and will head to Washington to look to clinch the series.

Los Angeles Clippers vs Oklahoma City Thunder

After blowing a huge lead in the fourth quarter in game 4, the Thunder looked to retake the lead in the series tonight in Oklahoma. The Thunder managed to overcome a hot start by the Clippers, as they were down 25-34 after the first quarter. The Thunder were able to seal the win on a controversial series of calls that resulted in a turnover for the Clippers and then three free throw attempts for Russell Westbrook. The Thunder eventually won the game 105-104. The Thunder should take comfort in the fact that they managed to win even with Kevin Durant shooting 6 for 22 from the field. Westbrook carried the Thunder for a majority of the game, turning in 38 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Blake Griffin led the Clippers with 24 points and 17 rebounds. The Thunder have now taken a 3-2 lead in the series and will travel to LA to look to clinch the series.
