After the Brooklyn Nets agreed to a buyout with Joe Johnson, it started a bidding war between playoff-contending teams seeking the veteran's services. Johnson was pursued by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami heat, Oklahoma City Thunder and Atlanta Hawks most aggressively, now it appears he will head to south beach.
Johnson's best shot at winning a championship likely would have come in Cleveland, but instead he chooses Miami where he can still play for a playoff team, join forces with friend Dwyane Wade and get more minutes than he would have found in Cleveland.
The 34-year-old small forward will finish the season with the Heat then become a free agent, where he could look to latch on to a championship contender then. From a fantasy perspective, Johnson loses some of the worth he had in Brooklyn but he is still worth rostering, a much better outcome for fantasy owners than had Johnson signed with Cleveland.
