Reviewing Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals

After an entire season of anticipation. We have waited months to finally see a rematch between Eastern Conference powerhouses: the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers. While the regular season match ups were entertaining, they were merely appetizers for the main event. Everyone predicted a Pacers vs Heat rematch, and that is exactly what we got. Unfortunately, the series was not quite as expected. The Pacers, who dominated a majority of the regular season, entered the series with more questions than answers. And the Heat, well they were themselves, quietly going about their dominance. This series featured one surprise victory for the Pacers in game one, but other than that they did all they could to just stay above water. The series was capped off by a rather uneventful thrashing of the Pacers by the Heat. And while this series wasn’t what we had hoped or expected, it has produced a winner, and that is the Miami Heat.

The Pacers started the game on a 9-2 run. Unfortunately for them it only got worse after that. The Heat finished the first quarter leading 24-13, and they were only getting started. The Heat continued to play at a high level as they poured on 36 points in the second quarter. The Heat 60-34 at halftime, and the lead only increased. Following the first half the Heats lead continued to grow and at one point they led by 37. By the start of the fourth quarter the Heat were up 91-58 and most of their starters were on the bench. The Pacers managed to win the fourth quarter, but there was little worth celebrating as they were simply prolonging the inevitable. By the time of the final buzzer the score was 117-92.

The Pacers struggled with inconsistencies throughout the series, and tonight was no different. Paul George led the Pacers with 29 points and eight rebounds, both led the team. The only other Pacers who scored in double figures were David West and Lance Stephenson. As a team, the Pacers shot 46 percent from the field, however; the Heat shot nearly 58 percent. The Pacers also registered fewer assists and rebounds but more turnovers than the Heat. Despite the disappointing loss, the Pacers had a terrific season and they appear to have a bright future.

The Heat absolutely dominated this game. They shot 58 percent from the field and 42 percent from behind the arc. They also out rebounded the Pacers by 9. Chris Bosh came alive once again, scoring 25 points. LeBron James had another impressive outing as he scored 25 points, had four rebounds, and six assists. The Heat had a terrific performance and now they can just sit back and wait to find out who their opponent will be.
