Adding Insult to Injury, Giants Lose Victor Cruz For The Year
Sunday night the New York Giants suffered an embarrassing 27-0 loss to their division rivals the Philadelphia Eagles. Making the loss even harder to swallow for Giants fans was losing their biggest threat on offense, Victor Cruz. On Tuesday the Giants officially ended Cruz’s season by placing him on injured reserve. This injury is said to be harder to recover from than a torn ACL. This makes Cruz’s future very uncertain.
Patrick Willis To Miss SNF Game Against Broncos
The San Francisco 49ers have more talent on defense out on suspension or injured than most defenses have on their entire roster. Monday night they lost one more for at least a week. Linebacker Patrick Willis will miss the 49ers’ Sunday Night Football game this week against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. This injury is even more costly because the 49ers were already without NaVorro Bowman in the middle. Rookie Chris Borland acquitted himself well Monday night in relief of Willis but it will be baptism by fire in Denver on Sunday night.
Broncos Place Danny Trevathan on IR-recall
Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan missed the first three games of the season with a fractured bone just under his left knee. In his first game back, Trevathan suffered a crack in the bone just above his left knee. The Broncos have placed him on injured reserve/designated for return. He will be eligible to practice in six weeks and return to the lineup in eight weeks.
Joseph Randle Arrested For Shoplifting
Backup running back Joseph Randle of the Dallas Cowboys was arrested Monday night in a suburban mall for shoplifting. He was charged with a misdemeanor Class B theft of $50 to $500. Reports say he was attempting to steal underwear and cologne. The Cowboys have announced they are planning on fining Randle with no suspension.
Knowshon Moreno Out For Season
Tuesday morning the Miami Dolphins announced they had placed running back Knowshon Moreno on season ending injured reserve with an ACL injury. Moreno has been hampered by injuries almost all season, playing very sparingly so far. At the end of the season he’s going to be a free agent and this injury could be a major factor in how much money he gets from whatever team he signs for.
Bengals Place Marvin Jones on IR
The Cincinnati Bengals haven’t had the best luck with wide receivers and injuries so far this season. Star wide receiver A.J. Green has been relegated to a week-to-week status with his sprained toe and now they have placed Marvin Jones on injured reserve. Jones hasn’t played at all this season while struggling with foot and ankle problems Apparently his lack of progress in his recovery is the reason the Bengals decided to move on and go in another direction.
Vontaze Burfict To Be Investigated By League for Apparent Leg Twisting
In other Bengals news, Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict is being investigated by the NFL for his dirty play. In Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, Burfict can be seen after the play is over on more than one occasion trying to twist the legs of quarterback Cam Newton and tight end Greg Olsen. Both players are coming off either an ankle injury or foot injury and Olsen said after the game on Sunday that Burfict deserved to be suspended or fined for targeting players.
Doug Free To Miss 3-4 Weeks
The Dallas Cowboys have been winning games this season behind one of the more talented offensive lines in the league and having a balanced offense. Their offensive line took a significant hit on Sunday when starting right tackle Doug Free suffered a fracture in his foot. Free left the game Sunday but was able to come back and finish the game. He will likely miss 3-4 weeks.
Carson Palmer Leads Cardinals To Victory
After missing three games with a nerve issue in his shoulder, Carson Palmer was finally able to start again at quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals fully trusted in Palmer and showed this by throwing the ball 44 times (albeit against a dreadful Washington Redskins secondary). Palmer said even after throwing the ball that many times his shoulder feels great. Head coach Bruce Arians said that he hopes Palmer can practice this week without any limitations.
Colin Kaepernick Improves to 4-0 on MNF
Since coming into the NFL, Colin Kaepernick has appeared in four Monday Night Football games and hasn’t lost a single one of them. This past Monday night Kaepernick went 22 of 36 for 343 yards and three touchdowns as the San Francisco 49ers beat the St. Louis Rams. Kaepernick will look to maintain his primetime prowess this Sunday night when the 49ers head to Denver to take on the Broncos. The 49ers will need one of Kaepernick’s better performances to leave Denver with a win.
