Two players that will be linked to each other are Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr, the wide receiver duo from Louisiana State. That is where their similarities end. Landry and Beckham Jr play the game differently and the duo will do well in the NFL next season.
Odell Beckham Jr
| Year | Receptions | Yards | TDs |
| 2011 | 41 | 475 | 2 |
| 2012 | 43 | 713 | 2 |
| 2013 | 59 | 1152 | 8 |
Beckham is a dual threat option at the wide receiver position. He contributed on both on offense and special teams as a return specialist. This past season Beckham came within 36 yards of matching his freshmen and sophomore seasons combined.
During his tenure in Baton Rouge, the New Orleans native was used on both the punt return and kickoff return teams. This past season all of his attention would be on kickoff returns and his role in the offense. Beckham averaged 26.9 yards per return on 30 opportunities.
Beckham would easily fit on a team that is in need of receiver help and also looking some help in the return game. Ideally a team much like the Philadelphia Eagles. Jeremy Maclin or Riley Cooper may not return to the Eagles next season which would work well for the Eagles to bring in a young exciting player for Nick Foles, LeSean McCoy and this young core.
Jarvis Landry
| Year | Receptions | Yards | TDs |
| 2011 | 4 | 43 | 0 |
| 2012 | 56 | 573 | 5 |
| 2013 | 77 | 1193 | 10 |
Much like his counterpart Beckham, Jarvis Landry burst onto the scene in 2013. However, unlike Beckham he is more of a one trick pony since he only plays offense. Not that he was never called upon to contribute in the return game. His opportunities were limited with Beckham taking those duties. His freshmen season Landry was essentially a non-factor with only four catches for 43 yards.
Landry started to come into his own during his sophomore season increasing his receptions to 56, with 573 yards and five trips to the end zone. All of those numbers increased in during his junior campaign before declaring for the NFL Draft.
Jarvis Landry is the type of receiver that you want patrolling the middle of the field. He has strong hands and one of the best pure pass catchers in the draft. He doesn’t have the ideal size that many will scouts look for but he has all the other intangibles. He would be a fit for the Baltimore Ravens who are in need of wide receiver help.
Comparison
Neither Beckham nor Landry will tower over the competition. Landry is listed at 6’1” and 195 pounds while Beckham is listed at 6’0” and 193 pounds per the LSU Athletics website.
Advantage Landry
Both wide receivers played in Baton Rouge for three seasons. The biggest difference in their productions is the fact that Landry had limited playing time his freshmen season and Beckham excelled on special teams.
Advantage Beckham
Overall these two draft prospects are two of the best at what they do. Dependent upon what a team’s biggest need is, either wide receiver are equally superb athletes who will be highly regarded come May.
