2014 NFL Draft: Final Seattle Seahawks Preview

Winning the Super Bowl was no easy task for the Seattle Seahawks. While the Seahawks blew out the Denver Broncos in the big game, it will be a tough road to get back to the promised land, but the Seahawks have the talent and the ability to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Each year after the Super Bowl champion wins the final game, other NFL teams in free agency like to poach players from the Super Bowl champion team. That's what happened this year to Seattle as Red Bryant, Golden Tate, and Chris Clemons all left in free agency. Seattle plays in an extremely tough division and having another solid draft will help a ton for next season.

Wide Receiver: Golden Tate left in free agency to play for the Detroit Lions and that opened up a glaring hole at the wide receiver position. It seems like Percy Harvin is never healthy and that makes the receiver position even more of a need.

Interior Offensive Line: The Seahawks could have upgraded this position last year, but the decision ended up being a good one for Seattle. It would be a smart idea to bring in a few interior offensive linemen.

Offensive Tackle: Breno Giacomini was not a dominating tackle for Seattle, but he got the job done for years. The Seahawks need to replace him at right tackle and they could do that in the draft.

Defensive Tackle: In the 4-3 defense, the defensive line is the piston to success. The Seahawks need a 3-technique defensive line who can take on double teams in the middle of the field.

Day One Targets

Allen Robinson: The wide receiver has nice size at 6'2" and he showed off his explosiveness at his Pro Day. Robinson would be a nice addition to this offense.

Xavier Su'a Filo: Having a player that plays both guard positions is a player to watch. UCLA's Xavier Su'a-Filo is athletic and he does a great job at getting around the edge to get to the second level.

Joel Bitonio: Although he played in a relatively weak conference in college, Joel Bitonio possesses good technique and long arms that allow him to hold up pass rushers off the edge.

Dominique Easley: If it weren't for the ACL injuries in both of his knees, Dominique Easley would likely be a top-10 pick in this year's draft. He has great burst off the ball and he has excellent strength. He would fit well at the 3-technique position.

Day Two Targets

Cyril Richardson: Unlike Su'a-Filo, Cyril Richardson thrives off his strength. Richardson isn't really athletic, but he has great technique to push defensive tackles backwards.

Antonio Richardson: Nicknamed "Tiny", that nickname is truly an oxymoron when it comes to Antonio Robinson. He has mammoth size at 6'6", 330 pounds, and he does a good job of taking advantage of his frame.

Donte Moncrief: A deep wide receiver group has kept Donte Moncrief's draft stock from rising, but he has a unique blend of size and speed that is effective in the NFL.

Will Sutton: If the Seahawks decide to wait until the second round to draft, there wouldn't be a better player in the back end than Will Sutton. He plays with a lot of energy to hold up the front in the middle of the defensive line.

Mid-to-Late Round Targets

Colt Lyerla: Although there are concerns over his history with drugs, Colt Lyerla could find his niche in an NFL offense. The Seahawks have a need at tight end and Lyerla would fill that void.

Aaron Lynch: Outside of Jadeveon Clowney, USF's Aaron Lynch may have the most potential out of any defensive end in this draft. Lynch needs NFL seasoning before he breaks out.

Deion Belue: The Seahakws love big cornerbacks and Deion Belue from the University of Alabama is just that. It also helps that Belue played his college football in the SEC.

Final Seven-Round Mock

1. Joel Bitonio, Offensive Guard/Tackle, Nevada

2. Will Sutton, Defensive Tackle, Arizona State

4. Aaron Lynch, Defensive End, USF

5a. Cody Hoffman, Wide Receiver, BYU

5b. Colt Lyerla, Tight End, Oregon

7. Andrew Jackson, Inside Linebacker, Western Kentucky
