2014 NFL Draft Stock Watch: Worst Bowl Performances Thus Far

College football is almost a wrap for the season, and a wrap for some player’s careers.  During bowl season, many players want to play their best game of their career, not only to help their team win their last game, but to also possibly improve their draft stock as a prospect for the upcoming draft.  However, some players under perform in their bowl games and can lower their draft stock.  Although one game should not necessarily settle a players draft stock.  Here are a few draft:

5. Khalil Mack, LB, Buffalo- Mack is one of the top rated linebackers in college football and could also be one of the first linebackers to be drafted come next May.  Mack had a fantastic season for Buffalo totaling 100 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and three interceptions.  Although in his final game in the Idaho Potato Bowl, Mack only recorded six tackles with zero sacks.  However, Mack was avoided in the run and was double teamed against blockers.

4. Jordan Lynch, QB, Northen Illinois-  Lynch was one of the most electrifying players in college football this season and has some scouts questioning his ability to play quarterback in the NFL.  Lynch was a dual threat quarterback who posted nearly 5,000 total yards.  In his final game in the Pointsettia Bowl, Lynch only threw for one touchdown, had an interception, and only ran for 39 yards. His last game surely did not help his stock, which is questionable where a team may take a risk on him.

3. Kareem Martin, DE, North Carolina- Martin has been a great force on the defense for North Carolina and could be an early draft pick and a top defensive end taken.  Martin had a total of 11.5 sacks and 82 tackles in 2013.  In the Belk Bowl, Martin only had four tackles and .5 sacks which did not make him standout.

2. Stephen Morris, QB, Miami- Morris has been inconsistent as quarterback in Miami and has not lived up to his hype.  Many scouts still think that Morris still has a lot of potential and think that he is a mid-round selection.  Morris has thrown for a total of 3,028 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions this year.  In the Russell Athletic Bowl, Morris only threw for 160 yards on a 44.4 completion percentage with zero touchdowns and interceptions resulting in a Miami loss against Teddy Bridgewater and Louisville.

1. Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State- Carr has received a lot of hype this season as he threw for 5,082 yards, 50 touchdowns and only eight interceptions on 659 pass attempts.  Carr is said to be a high draft pick and possibly one of the first quarterbacks taken. Although in his final game in the Las Vegas Bowl, he threw for 216 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception on 53.7 completion percentage on possibly one of his worst games.
