2014 NFL Draft: Updated Big Board, Version 7.0

The biggest thing to note from this week’s Updated 2014 NFL Draft Big Board is the drop of Alabama’s Cyrus Kouandjio. This is a prospect I was nuke warm on coming into the season and has only hurt his stock in my eyes. He just isn’t a fluid athlete and lacks the balance to consistently hold up in pass protection.

Kouandjio gets a ton of love from the major draft analysts, but the fact is he’s being highly overrated. His recent performance against Ole Miss really pushed his flaws to the forefront. On more than a few occasions, Kouandjio ended up on the ground because of his limited balance and jerky kick slide.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some NFL evaluators begin to see him as a guard. His play at left tackle should make it easy for most to see that he doesn’t have a future at that spot in the NFL. Kouandjio is a right tackle or guard prospect in my eyes.

This year’s cornerback class is starting to take shape with TCU’s Jason Verrett and Virginia Tech’s Kyle Fuller among my favorite prospects. I currently have Verrett hovering around the top-10, which might be considered high by some. However, he’s an instinctive player who can completely take a team’s top target out of the game.

Fuller is one of the fastest risers in my eyes and has a chance to crack the first round. He plays a physical game that includes being a major contributor in run support. However, it’s his ability to locate and track the ball that makes him a special player. Fuller also excels at breaking up passes without drawing a penalty.

Lastly, LSU’s wide-receiver tandem of Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry continue to impress. These are two explosive players who have great hands and the ability to locate open spots in the defense.
