2014 NFL Mock Draft: Identifying the Best Cornerbacks

This year's cornerback class is an underrated one, and in the top two rounds, some good players could be had by your team. Here is the latest mock draft, and cornerbacks are outlined.

    Team Selection School Comments
Round 1 1 Houston Texans QB Teddy Bridgewater Louisville
2 St. Louis Rams (via WSH) QB Derek Carr Fresno State
3 Atlanta Falcons DE Jadeveon Clowney South Carolina
4 Minnesota Vikings QB Blake Bortles Central Florida
5 Jacksonville Jaguars QB Johnny Manziel Texas A&M
6 Cleveland Browns WR Sammy Watkins Clemson
7 Oakland Raiders WR Kelvin Benjamin Florida State
8 Buffalo Bills OT Jake Matthews Texas A&M
9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers OT Greg Robinson Auburn
10 Pittsbugh Steelers WR Mike Evans Texas A&M
11 Tennessee Titans OLB Khalil Mack Buffalo
12 New York Giants OT Taylor Lewan Michigan
13 St. Louis Rams OLB Anthony Barr UCLA
14 New York Jets TE Jace Amaro Texas Tech
15 San Diego Chargers CB Darqueze Dennard Michigan State The San Diego Chargers are in dire need of a cornerback, and get the best one in this year's draft. Dennard can do everything a corner needs to do, cover, tackle, blitz, and he is incredible aware at his position.
16 Green Bay Packers S Hasean Clinton-Dix Alabama
17 Detroit Lions CB Jason Verrett TCU Verrett is just behind Dennard in terms of being an NFL ready corner. Verrett is incredibly sound in terms of technique, and in today's NFL, that cannot be discounted. He lacks the top end speed that others may have, but he is as close to a shut down corner as you will find in this class.
18 Chicago Bears DT Louis Nix III Notre Dame
19 Baltimore Ravens WR Jordan Matthews Vanderbilt
20 Dallas Cowboys DE Vic Beasley Clemson
21 Miami Dolphins OT Cameron Erving Florida State
22 Philadelphia Eagles LB C.J. Mosley Alabama
23 Cleveland Browns (via IND) CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu Oregon The Browns have one of the best corners in the NFL in Joe Haden, but they have been searching for a number two for a few years. Ekpre-Olomu may benefit more than the other two corners if he is drafted as a number two. He is right there with Verrett in terms of technique, and may surprise people with his athleticism at the combine.
24 Arizona Cardinals OT Cyrus Kouandjio Alabama
25 Cincinnati Bengals OLB Ryan Shazier Ohio State
26 San Francisco 49ers WR Brandin Cooks Oregon State
27 Carolina Panthers WR Allen Robinson Penn State
28 Kansas City Chiefs TE Eric Ebron North Carolina
29 New England Patriots CB Justin Gilbert Oklahoma State The Patriots seems to have a need at corner each and every year, but with Talib getting older the Pats will need to add a cover corner. Gilbert is just that. While he struggles to tackle at times, he can cover with the best of them.
30 New Orleans Saints OLB Kyle Van Noy Brigham Young
31 Seattle Seahawks OG Cyril Richardson Baylor
32 Denver Broncos CB Bradley Roby Ohio State Bradley Roby has been beaten a number of times this season, and he tends to guess a lot, which gets him in trouble. But his physical tools are off the charts, and with good coaching he will be a star.
Round 2 33 Houston Texans OLB Michael Sam Missouri
34 Washington Redskins OT Cedric Ogbuehi Texas A&M
35 Atlanta Falcons OG David Yankey Stanford
36 Minnesota Vikings LB Shayne Skov Stanford
37 Jacksonville Jaguars DE Shawn Oakman Baylor
38 Cleveland Browns RB Lache Seastrunk Oregon
39 Oakland Raiders OG Gabe Jackson Mississippi State
40 Buffalo Bills OLB Telvin Smith Florida State
41 Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE Trent Murphy Stanford
42 Pittsbugh Steelers OT Antonio Richardson Tennessee
43 Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey Washington
44 New York Giants TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins Washington
45 St. Louis Rams OG Zach Martin Notre Dame
46 New York Jets WR Davante Adams Fresno State
47 San Diego Chargers DE Stephon Tuitt Notre Dame
48 Green Bay Packers LB Yawin Smallwood Connecticut
49 Detroit Lions WR Kasen Williams Washington
50 Chicago Bears LB Chris Borland Wisconsin
51 Baltimore Ravens C Travis Swanson Arkansas
52 Dallas Cowboys DT Dominique Easley Florida
53 Miami Dolphins DT RaShede Hageman Minnesota
54 Philadelphia Eagles S Deone Bucannon Washington State
55 Indianapolis Colts OG Xavier Su'a-Filo UCLA
56 Arizona Cardinals S Terrence Brooks Florida State
57 Cincinnati Bengals CB Kyle Fuller Virginia Tech With Leon Hall and Dre Fitzpatrick not playing as well as Bengals fans had expected, the Bengals get a great value in the second round in Fuller.
58 San Francisco 49ers CB Lamarcus Joyner Florida State Some teams may be scared away at his size, and at 5'8 that may be a valid concern. But Joyner is a good football player, and would fit in well in San Francisco.
59 Carolina Panthers OL Billy Turner North Dakota State
60 San Francisco 49ers (via KC) OLB Jeremiah Attaochu Georgia Tech
61 New England Patriots S Ahmad Dixon Baylor
62 New Orleans Saints CB Aaron Colvin Oklahoma Colvin can play either safety or corner, and is very good at both. The versatility he brings to Rob Ryan's defense will be utilized perfectly.
63 Seattle Seahawks WR Brandon Coleman Rutgers
64 Denver Broncos C Tyler Larsen Utah State
