2014 NFL Mock Draft: Where Will the Top Wide Receivers Land?

The 2014 wide receiver class is one of the deepest we have seen in years with a plethora of first-round talent and plenty more filling in to the second-round. I did my Week 17 NFL Mock Draft  in which I had 13 wide receivers going in the first 96 picks. Now I take a look back at my mock draft and examine each of the wide receivers and why I have them there.

Pick Team Player Position School Note:
1 Houston Texans Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville
2 St. Louis Rams (WAS) Jake Matthews OT Texas A&M
3 Jacksonville Jaguars Derek Carr QB Fresno State
4 Oakland Raiders Jadeveon Clowney DE South Carolina
5 Cleveland Browns Sammy Watkins WR Clemson Cleveland would love to gave Bridgewater or Carr but with both quarterbacks off the board, they add an elite wide receiver prospect in Watkins. He does it all; move the chains, turn a screen into an 80-yard touchdown, or run a slant and get open with a safety coming his way. Watkins has everything you are looking for and pairing him with Josh Gordon would give the Browns two Pro Bowl-caliver wide receivers.
6 Atlanta Falcons Khalil Mack OLB Buffalo
7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mike Evans WR Texas A&M Mike Glennon has shown the Bucs that he deserves another year as the starting quarterback, now they need to help him out. While Vincent Jackson makes big plays adding Evans will give them two physical wide receivers who will dominate smaller cornerbacks and make big catches. Evans doesn't have great speed but when the ball is thrown his way he is going to catch it and a young quarterback can never have too many weapons.
8 Minnesota Vikings Blake Bortles QB UCF
9 Buffalo Bills C.J. Mosley ILB Alabama
10 Tennessee Titans Cameron Erving OT Florida State
11 New York Giants Eric Ebron TE North Carolina
12 Detroit Lions Darqueze Dennard CB Michigan State
13 Pittsburgh Steelers Greg Robinson OT Auburn
14 New York Jets Brandin Cooks WR Oregon State While everyone is ready to jump off the Geno Smith bandwagon and claim the Jets need to draft a quarterback, truth is it would be hard for any quarterback to find success with the players surrounding him. New York needs to bring in Cooks, who had a breakout year in 2013. Cooks possesses great speed but really shows a physicality similar to Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith which is just what Geno needs.
15 St. Louis Rams Anthony Barr OLB UCLA
16 Green Bay Packers Ha Ha Clinton-Dix FS Alabama
17 Chicago Bears Ra"Shede Hageman DT Minnesota
18 Baltimore Ravens Jordan Matthews WR Vanderbilt Simply put, trading Boldin was a failure for the Ravens. Joe Flacco missed him, Torrey Smith saw double coverage without him, and things just didn't click on offense. Bring in Matthews, a big wide receiver who knows how to use his size to beat the defensive back and get open to move the chains. Strong hands, impressive after the catch, and athleticism, Matthews is exactly what the Ravens passing game needs.
19 Dallas Cowboys Louis Nix III DT Notre Dame
20 San Diego Chargers Ifo Ekpre-Olomu CB Oregon
21 Miami Dolphins Taylor Lewan OT Michigan
22 Philadelphia Eagles Bradley Roby CB Ohio State
23 Cincinnati Bengals Marqise Lee WR USC While wide receiver may not be a major need for the Bengals, I don't see them passing on a great talent like Lee. If he is healthy, Lee has the potential to be a number one wide receiver. When you pair him with A.J. Green and you will have one of the best duo's for years to come.
24 Cleveland Browns (IND) Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M
25 Arizona Cardinals Antonio Richardson OT Tennessee
26 New Orleans Saints Ryan Shazier OLB Ohio State
27 Kansas City Chiefs Jarvis Landry WR LSU While Alex Smith may not be a great quarterback, he isn't exactly working with some of the best wide receivers possible. Jarvis Landry is a star, he knows how to get open with his route-running, has strong hands and can make big plays. He is just what the Chiefs' offense needs to take the next step forward.
28 New England Patriots Jace Amaro TE Texas Tech
29 San Francisco 49ers Jason Verrett CB TCU
30 Carolina Panthers Justin Gilbert CB Oklahoma State
31 Denver Broncos Kony Ealy DE Missouri
32 Seattle Seahawks Cyril Richardson OG Baylor

33 Houston Texans Cyrus Kouandjio OT Alabama
34 Washington Redskins Cedric Ogbuehi OT Texas A&M
36 Jacksonville Jaguars Bishop Sankey RB Washington
36 Oakland Raiders Davante Adams WR Fresno State Adams is following Carr to the draft and there is a lot to like about the nation's leading receiver statistically. Size, speed and an outstanding ability to make contested catches, all something that the Raiders rookie quarterback will love.
37 Cleveland Browns Billy Turner OT North Dakota State
38 Atlanta Falcons David Yankey OG Stanford
39 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Austin Seferian-Jenkins TE Washington
40 Minnesota Vikings Stephon Tuitt DE Notre Dame
41 Buffalo Bills Lamarcus Joyner FS Florida State
42 Tennessee Titans Trent Murphy DE Stanford
43 New York Giants La'el Collins OT LSU
44 Detroit Lions Allen Robinson WR Penn State The Lions have the best wide receiver in the NFL with Calvin Johnson but they don't have anyone else. Allen Robinson has shot up the boards this year and his combination of speed and route-running will do wonders to help him get open opposite of Johnson.
45 Pittsburgh Steelers Jackson Jeffcoat DE Texas
46 New York Jets Gabe Jackson OG Mississippi State
47 St. Louis Rams Dion Bailey FS USC
48 Green Bay Packers Dominique Easley DT Florida
49 Chicago Bears Kyle Fuller CB Virginia Tech
50 Baltimore Ravens Ja'Wuan James OT Tennessee
51 Dallas Cowboys Xavier Su'a-Filo OG UCLA
52 San Diego Chargers Demarcus Lawrence DE Boise State
53 Miami Dolphins Zack Martin OG Notre Dame
54 Philadelphia Eagles Deone Bucannon SS WashingtonState
55 Cincinnati Bengals Kyle Van Noy OLB BYU
56 Indianapolis Colts DeVante Parker WR Louisville One of my favorite prospects in the draft, DeVante Parker is just what the Colts need. While T.Y. Hilton can stretch the field, we saw when Reggie Wayne went down how much his loss hurt Andrew Luck. While Parker has speed, what makes him a real threat is his ability to make tough catches, especially in the red zone, which is something Luck will definitely love.
57 Arizona Cardinals C.J. Fiedorowicz TE Iowa
58 New Orleans Saints Chris Borland ILB Wisconsin
59 San Francisco 49ers (KC) Paul Richardson WR Colorado While Richardson may not be a big, physical wide receiver like Anquan Boldin. He is a playmaker who can stretch the field with his speed and get open for the quarterback. The 49ers could take it slow with him and help him as a route-runner until he is ready to contributre in a big way.
60 New England Patriots Brandon Coleman WR Rutgers It's the Rutgers connection for the Patriots, but Coleman also fills a need on this team. Tom Brady desperately needs more help at wide receiver, and Coleman is the perfect big target he will fall in love with.
61 San Francisco 49ers Travis Swanson C Arkansas
62 Carolina Panthers Odell Beckham Jr. WR LSU The Panthers need to do two things in the 2014 draf.t Improve their secondary and bring in more options for Cam Newton in the passing game. Beckham Jr. may be overshadowed by his teammate but he would work very well alongside Steve Smith.
63 Denver Broncos Timmy Jernigan DT Florida State
64 Seattle Seahawks DaQuan Jones DT Penn State

Pick Team Player Position School Note:
65 Houston Texans Michael Sam DE Missouri
66 Washington Redskins Telvin Smith ILB Florida State
67 Jacksonville Jaguars Christian Jones OLB Florida State
68 Oakland Raiders Jimmy Garoppolo QB Eastern Illinois
69 Cleveland Browns A.J. Johnson MLB Tennessee
70 Atlanta Falcons Will Sutton DT Arizona State
71 New York Jets (TB) Marcel Jensen TE Fresno State
72 Minnesota Vikings Ka'Deem Carey RB Arizona
73 Buffalo Bills James Hurst OT North Carolina
74 San Francisco 49ers (TEN) Seantrel Henderson OT Miami (Florida)
75 New York Giants Taylor Hart DE Oregon
76 Detroit Lions Morgan Moses OT Virginia
77 Cleveland Browns (PIT) Loucheiz Purifoy CB Florida
78 New York Jets Jeremiah Attaochu OLB Georgia Tech
79 St. Louis Rams Antone Exum CB Virginia Tech
80 Green Bay Packers Yawin Smallwood ILB UConn
81 Chicago Bears David Fales QB San Jose State
82 Baltimore Ravens Tyler Larsen C Utah State
83 Dallas Cowboys Lache Seastrunk RB Baylor
84 San Diego Chargers Pierre Desir CB Lindenwood
85 Miami Dolphins Anthony Johnson DT LSU
86 Philadelphia Eagles Kasen Williams WR Washington After addressing the defensive side of the ball with their first two selections. Chip Kelly now fills a need on offense, Williams falls because of a broken foot, but he is another athlete for Nick Foles to work with
87 Cincinnati Bengals Brett Hundley QB UCLA
88 Indianapolis Colts Marcus Roberson CB Florida
89 Arizona Cardinals Zach Mettenberger QB LSU
90 New Orleans Saints Aaron Colvin CB Oklahoma
91 Kansas City Chiefs Stephen Morris QB Miami (Florida)
92 New England Patriots Daniel McCullers DT Tennessee
93 San Francisco 49ers Aaron Murray QB Georgia
94 Carolina Panthers Ahmad Dixon SS Baylor
95 Denver Broncos Marion Grice RB Arizona State
96 Minnesota Vikings Shayne Skov ILB Stanford
