2014 Senior Bowl: Sizing Up The Cornerbacks

Pierre Desire Lindenwood

Desir will be a dominant and physical Cornerback, who shut down nearly every receiver at the Division 2 level, Quarterbacks refused to pass his way because, he shows strong ball hawking skills and shows great size ay 6'2” and a wingspan of 77 ½.

Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Nebraska                                                                                                                          Jean-Baptise comes in at great size at 6'3” who plays excellent in both Man and Zone coverage and has a mentality of picking the ball off with 4 picks this season.

Keith McGill, Utah

Yet another Cornerback with exceptional height at 6'3” who is great at man-to-man coverage and has the outstanding ability to jump out of the building.

Jaylen Watkins, Florida

Brother of Sammy Watkins this corner comes in at 6'0” and has amazing closing speed. He is a great tackler and doesn't shy away from contact at all.

Chris Davis Jr, Auburn

One of my favorite Cornerbacks of the Senior Bowl, he has great returning skills and is a big time play-maker but does has a problem wanting to pick the ball off using his chest which can be a problem with other teams but he is great in zone coverage. He may not be as tall as the other top corners but he makes up by always being around the ball.

Lavelle Westbrooks - Georgia Southern

Another Division 2 player who has experience at both Safety and Cornerback. He has great extincts in where the ball is going and shows that with 20 career pass break ups. He also doesn't shy from the tackle coming in with a career 140 tackles.

Nevin Lawson – Utah State

One of the most physical Cornerbacks in the draft, Lawson plays exceptionally well in Zone coverage. He also helps in run support with 5 tackles for loss.

Aaron Colvin, Oklahoma

Colvin is a sticky cornerback when it comes to coverage, he loves to be physical at the line of scrimmage and will be a problem with receivers and Quarterbacks. He loves to also be sticky at the route tree which will help him get a big number of picks. He is a read and react player which will help him rise among boards despite the ACL tear.

Walt Aikens, Liberty

A willing tackler and it shows with 51 tackles just this season. He is a decent zone corner that has knowledge where the ball with 7 pass breakups.

Dezmen Southward – Wisconsin

Southward may not be a ball hawk but, he makes up for it with the willingness to tackle in run support with 69 tackles and 8 tackles for loss. He is okay in coverage but his best bet is at a blitzing corner or a move to linebacker which is a position he will excel at.

Dontae Johnson – North Carolina State

Johnson has decent pass coverage but shys away from contact and almost tries to avoid it all cost. He does have good body control and closing speed from sideline to sideline.

Marqueston Huff, Wyoming

Huff is a terrific tackler and shows it nearly leading the national in tackles, averaging 10 tackles per game and 74 solo tackles. A liability in coverage I believe Huff will thrive as a weak outside linebacker in the league.
