My most disappointing team of the 2013 season were the New York Giants after they started 0-6 for the first time since 1976, the Giants ultimately finished 7-9. They followed that abysmal act up in 2014 going 6-10 and finishing third in the NFC East division after losing Victor Cruz early in the season and never regaining any momentum. The Giants struggled in all three phases, specifically their offense and carelessness with the ball, losing the turnover battle more times than not, but an overall lack of talent and depth on the roster was clearly the achilles heel of a losing season.
An average at best defense, the Giants lost long time starting cornerbacks Walter Thurmond and Antrel Rolle to free agency, but limited the blow by retaining Jason Pierre Paul with the franchise tag. Landing running back Shane Vereen was a nice touch and will help the offense have more options in the running game.
After last year's successful first-round pick, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Eli Manning and the offense are ready for one more mauler on the offensive-line to help solidify both the ground game and allow Manning that extra second when dropping back which is vital to any pocket passer. Of course, adding talent and depth into a depleted and gutted secondary has to be a cause for concern heading into draft weekend.
Knowing their needs, here is a list of possible targets for the Giants.
1. Brandon Scherff, Offensive Guard, Iowa (Round One)
The clear cut number one offensive-lineman in the draft could be the safest pick around too. Scherff is a plug-and-play guard from day-one where he would slide next to former early round picks Justin Pugh and Weston Richburg giving this unit a real sense of credibility and opportunity to take control of games late in the fourth quarter.

2. Andrus Peat, Offensive Tackle, Stanford (Round One)
Peat is a tough prospect to figure out depending on who you ask. While some say his natural athleticism and movement skills are so smooth he should be a top-10 pick others are quick to note his lack of power and punch when needing to get physical scarring off a large crowd. Still, what i'm hearing now is his ceiling and potential will be too good to pass up on in the first 15 picks making this a legitimate landing spot for Peat who will come in and learn at right tackle from the get go.
3. Trae Waynes, Cornerback, Michigan State (Round One)
Losing not one but two starters inside the secondary is a difficult thing to overcome and could be a giant headache in the Giants temple throughout the season if they don't address it early on. Waynes is the number one cornerback on the majority of big boards around the league so plucking him at number-nine would be a cause for a big celebration. Waynes is physical and fast but played a majority of zone scheme and coverage for the Spartans. Getting his comfortable with running sideline-to-sideline with wideouts may take an adjusting period, but theres no reason to believe he won't be locking down opposing teams number one receivers by seasons ends.
4. Landon Collins, Safety, Alabama (Round Two)
Ask me two months ago and this was a pick projected in the top-15 however, now its not so clear Collins will hear his name called in the first-round altogether. A hard hitting in-the-box safety Collins is a monster against the run but struggles and has limitations dropping back into coverage and lining up against slot receivers. Still, the Crimson Tide product would be too good to pass up on early in round two while filling a huge need inside the Giants secondary.
5. Preston Smith, Defensive Line, Mississippi State (Round Three)
This team is at that point where they just need to bring in as much talent as they can up and down down the depth chart as you could make a case for a need at nearly every position but quarterback. Smith is a versatile monster who can and will lineup up at both the defensive tackle and defensive end positions where he was highly effective in college. A big time producer Smith find a way to get the job down and make everyone around him better helping this teams front-seven in more ways than one. This would be a huge addition to the defensive-line rotation that is desperate for a fresh spark of new life.
