Explanations
Tennessee Titans: Danny Shelton, Defensive Tackle, Washington: The Titans were able to pick up three selections to move down just a few spots in the top 10. Some may find it odd that I went with Danny Shelton here, but the Titans invested a great deal on outside linebackers this past month, especially by bringing in Brian Orakpo as a free agent. Having a big-bodied defensive tackle up front should open up lanes on the outside for both Orakpo and Derrick Morgan. He's also an elite-level run stuffer.
New York Giants: Kevin White, Wide Receiver, West Virginia: New York usually stays true to its board. So even if a wide receiver is its top player, Jerry Reese and company will likely go in that direction. It's now all about whether the team views White or Alabama's Amari Cooper as the top receiver in the class. Either way, adding someone of White's caliber to go with Odell Beckham Jr and Victor Cruz. Talk about a dynamic trio.
San Francisco 49ers: Amari Cooper, Wide Receiver, Alabama: There has been some talk that San Francisco will move up into the top 10 to select this Alabama standout. Whether it's Cooper or White (or another player) available outside of the top 10, expect San Francisco to go hard at an elite-level talent rather than remaining at 15. In this scenario, and pretty much flipping a coin with the Giants pick, San Francisco lands Cooper.
Miami Dolphins: Melvin Gordon, Running Back, Wisconsin: Again, it's flip a coin time here. The expectation is that Miami will have to address the running back position early in the draft. With Lamar Miller currently slated to be the team's starter, it makes sense for the Dolphins to look for an upgrade. Gordon is my No. 1 running back simply because of Todd Gurley's knee injury. It's really a 1A, 1B scenario here.
Philadelphia Eagles: Landon Collins, Safety, Alabama: While I am not necessarily a big fan of Collins, he could act as a solid in-the-box strong safety next to Malcolm Jenkins to fill the final hole in what would then become one of the most improved secondaries in the league. If Philadelphia does keep Boykin in the slot, this pick makes even more sense. It would afford the team the ability to send Collins on blitz packages on a consistent basis.
