It may seem like a relatively small deal on the heels of NFL free agency, but the San Francisco 49ers were able to keep a solid change-of-pace running back in Shaun Draughn off the market.
Draughn, 27, was a mid-season pick up for the 49ers after starting running back Carlos Hyde went down with a foot injury. In six games with San Francisco, the former North Carolina standout put up 438 total yards and touched the ball an average of 16.1 times per game.
Based on Hyde's checkered injury history and Chip Kelly's run-first philosophy, there's a decent chance that Draughn will see a nice amount of touches for what should be a revamped 49ers offense next season. If so, he will be someone to keep an eye on when it comes to the waiver wire.
In deeper leagues, Draughn might even find himself worth a roster spot. He's a perfect fit for Kelly's system and put up 25 receptions in just six games last season, making him a decent PPR option.
