5 Worst Fantasy Quarterbacks This Preseason

Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers

5-of-13 passing, 38.5 percent completion, 40 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions

Not that Kaepernick actually had much of a chance to do anything during the preseason. And with him unlikely to play much Thursday, he's going to head into the regular season with less than 20 preseason pass attempts in a completely new offense. Of Kaepernick's 19 drop backs, he was sacked three times and forced to scramble another three times. It really doesn't matter if the engimatic quarterback has improved on the field if his offensive line is going to play this poorly during the regular year.

Tom Brady, New England Patriots

10-of-22 passing, 45.5 percent completion, 107 yards, one touchdowns and two interceptions

A four-time Super Bowl champion struggling in meaningless preseason football isn't the end of the world. With Deflategate hanging over his head, it's even more meaningless for Brady. And in reality, the Patriots were doing their best to get Jimmy Garoppolo prepared in case Brady is indeed suspended for the first four games of the season. That right there is the biggest drawback regarding Brady's fantasy status. Missing a quarter of the team's games would obviously hamper anyone expecting plus-level points from the quarterback position early on.

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

17-of-31 passing, 54.8 percent completion, 146 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions

Much like his counterpart in the NFC West, Wilson's struggles during the preseason had mostly everything to do with his offensive line. After Seahawks quarterbacks went down with seven sacks in the preseason opener, Pete Carroll and company changed up 40 percent of the starting unit. The results in the following two games were all about Seattle attempting to protect Wilson behind what could be a disastrous offensive line in 2015. With an ADP currently in the third round, this could make Wilson a risky proposition.

Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

23-of-47 passing, 48.9 percent completion, 311 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions

Wilson did add two touchdown runs and looked pretty confident leading the Buccaneers offense during his first three preseason outings. And while his inability to throw a single touchdown might be a bit concerning, it's still important to remember that this is just the preseason. No one is expecting QB1 numbers from Winston this season. And based on a favorable schedule, he could potentially put up solid QB2 numbers. The preseason only strengthened this idea.

Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders

28-of-51 passing, 54.9 percent completion, 334 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions

Again, there's little reason to read too much into preseason stats here. Carr was attempting to get comfortable with new targets, Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. In this, he succeeded to an extent. For his part, Cooper caught eight passes for 124 yards in the first three games. That's the best sign for Carr heading into the regular year.
