Aaron Hernandez Questioned in Connection to Homicide Investigation

First, it's important to preface this article by indicating that current New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has only been questioned in connection to a murder investigation. He is not a suspect in the investigation and has not been charged.

Too many times, the media makes a point of jumping on to a new story and misleading the reading public about what is exactly going on. This will not be the case at eDraft.

Here is what we do know...

Massachusetts State Police have searched Hernandez's home, presumably in connection with the body of a 27-year-old man who was found less than a mile from the home of the Patriots' standout. Hernandez is not believed to be a suspect in the murder, but it would seem to indicate that the police were executing a search warrant.

As most of you already know, probable cause laws stand in all 50 states and other terroritories of the United States. This means that a judge had to sign off on the warrant before the police could enter Hernandez's home.

Immediately after the authorities arrived, two men attempted to leave the residence. They were apprehended by the cops and taken away from the scene, apparently not in handcuffs.

The entire right side of the residential street, which has a long-standing connection with the Patriots organizations, was filled with marked and unmarked police cars.

A delivery man, presumably from a law firm named Ropes and Gray attempted to make a delivery. Upon his arrival at the residence, officers responded "you are not delivering it right now."

The search last nearly three hours and an officer left Hernandez's residence with a cardboard box in hand. Considering that his residence is 5,600 square feet and boasts a home gym, I wouldn't read too much into the length of the search.

Law enforcement officals did initially indicate that Hernandez was uncooperative during the early part of the probe. They have since declined comment.

Stacey James, an official with the New England Patriots had the following to say...

"I am aware of the reports, but I do not anticipate that we will be commenting publicly during an ongoing police investigation."

Apparently she was somewhere near the scene of the search.

The initial connection between Hernandez and the investigation seems to be an SUV that he had rented. Authorities were attempting to collect fingerprints. This may contradict why they actually entered Hernandez's home.

As it is, this story is fluid and we will be all over it.
