Early in their NFC Divisional Playoff game on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers seemed destined to blowout the Dallas Cowboys. They put up a touchdown on their first three possessions, tallying over 240 total yards in the process. Aaron Rodgers was absolutely dominant in every possible way.
But something weird happened after that. Led by Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and the rest of the team's young core, Dallas mounted a tremendous comeback effort. In fact, they tied the game up two different times within the final five minutes of regulation.
This is when Rodgers showed that he almost literally has ice water running through his veins. The MVP candidate connected with Jared Cook on a 36-yard pass on third-and-20 with just over 10 seconds remaining to set up the game-winning field goal from Mason Crosby.
In the end, Green Bay came out on top by the sore of 34-31 after thwarting a game Cowboys' comeback attempt.
Aaron Rodgers tossed the ball around Big D to the tune of 356 passing yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver-turned-running back Ty Montgomery added two scores on the ground and 81 total yards. Meanwhile, helping overcome the injury to Jordy Nelson, Cook and Davante Adams combined for 11 receptions and 180 yards.
In keeping with the fantasy theme, the Cowboys' offense ultimately showed up when it counted the most. And while it wasn't enough, their young guns more than proved their worth. Prescott became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to put up three passing touchdowns in a playoff game. All said, the first-year signal caller tallied 315 yards and three touchdowns. Fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliott added 125 yards and a touchdown on 22 attempts.
Surprisingly enough, both Dez Bryant and Jason Witten recorded their first career postseason touchdowns. Bryant compiled a stat line of 9-132-2. Meanwhile, Witten put up six receptions for 59 yards and a score in the losing effort.
Green Bay will now head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons in the NFC Championship game next Sunday.
