New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
The New York Jets will travel to Buffalo to face the Bills in the season finally. Both teams will be concluding a forgettable season and both teams have little to play for. With an uncertain off season ahead, a lot of the players may be auditioning for new teams. Last week the Jets gave up 11 sacks to the San Diego Chargers.
The Jet’s offense has struggled all season and last week the team’s longest pass play came from a wide receiver. The Jets will need to improve their dismal offense if they are to have a chance at victory. Luckily for the Jets they are facing a porous Buffalo defense. These two teams met to begin the year and will face each other again to finish it. In their first meeting the Jets completely dominated the Bills and the Bills will be seeking payback for the embarrassing loss.
The Jets have lost some key players to injury since then and will be looking to end the season on a high note. The Jets will start quarterback Mark Sanchez in what may be his last game in a Jets uniform. The offseason will be filled with transition for New York and Sunday’s game may be the last for many prominent Jets players. With rumors circling the Jets organization Jets fans are left with only hope for next season.
The Bills are seeking revenge for a disappointing week one loss to the Jets. The first meeting between these two teams was one sided in the Jets favor. Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had a terrible game and will be looking to improve on his performance. The Bills defense has been playing better lately and defensive end Mario Williams has quietly racked up 10.5 sacks on the year.
Fantasy Outlook
The Jet’s offense is abysmal and you have to be crazy starting anybody on that roster. Even coach Rex Ryan is allegedly threatening to leave if the organization does not improve the offensive talent. If Rex is unhappy with the offense so should fantasy owners. Bills running back C.J. Spiller ran for over 150 yards the first time these two teams met. Look for him to have a big game in the rematch.
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots
In the season finally for two AFC East rivals these teams will face each other looking to end the year with a bang. The Miami Dolphins will travel north to face the New England Patriots. The Dolphins will be looking to end the year with and 8-8 mark. After four consecutive losing seasons a .500 record would be considered a successful season for Miami.
In a year filled with rookie quarterback success stories, Miami signal caller Ryan Tannehill has quietly had himself a remarkable season. The rookie quarterback has led his team to a better than expected season. Enough can’t be said about Tannehill’s ability to learn the position. Three years ago Tannehill was playing wide receiver for his college team. Tannehill would like nothing more than to finish his rookie season with a victory over the rival Patriots.
The Dolphins will need to stop Tom Brady and the explosive Patriot’s offense. Miami’s defense is led by Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake. Wake and the defense will need to keep pressure on Brady if they are to sneak out a victory in New England. The Dolphins offense has struggled all season and improving this side of the football will be a priority this off season.
New England will seek to enter the playoffs hitting on all cylinders. Head coach Bill Belichick will expect to get better play from his team this week than he did last week. The Patriots barely escaped Jacksonville with a win against the lowly Jaguars in week 16. New England tight end Rob Gronkowski may play against Miami but more than likely will be held out so he can be at full strength for New England’s playoff run.
Fantasy Outlook
Miami gives up a lot of yards through the air and one of the things that New England does extremely well is pass the football. Look for New England to have a big day passing the football. Start Tom Brady and Wes Welker. Miami also gives up a lot of points to opposing tight ends so start Aaron Hernandez and Gronkowski if he plays.
