Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers won the AFC North last season behind their 11-5 record. They’ve been quiet this offseason, but that’s because they don’t have pressing needs that needed to be addressed in free agency. They were able to re-sign quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and their biggest offseason acquisition has been running back DeAngelo Williams, who will provide much needed depth for the running game. They also boosted their depth at linebacker, signing Arthur Moats this offseason.
Pittsburgh already addressed its need for depth at running back, but could use some reinforcements with the pass rush as well as the secondary, or defense will continue to be an issue for the Steelers moving forward.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have been able to play extremely well in the regular season, winning games on a consistent basis. Unfortunately for Cincinnati, the season doesn't end after 17 weeks and time after time, they collapse in the playoffs. The Bengals finished last season with a record of 10-5-1.
Cincinnati has remained quiet this offseason, but have some needs to address. They signed A.J. Hawk in an effort to boost the defense, but have made no other signings.
Their main concern will be strengthening the team around quarterback Andy Dalton, who was given a big contract last season. The offensive line could use some additions to add depth and provide some more protection for Dalton under center, and defensively they had a decent 2014, but there’s room for improvement. Hawk has been a part of a Super Bowl-winning Green Bay Packer’s defense and can bring that experience to this Bengals team looking to advance in the playoffs.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens went 10-6 last year, finishing third in the tough AFC North.
Being able to reach an agreement to keep Justin Forsett will benefit an offense losing Torrey Smith to free agency. Forsett was very productive for the Ravens last season, and they will count on him to be a playmaker in the run game.
Baltimore has also signed safety Kendrick Lewis, defensive ends Chris Canty and Lawrence Guy.
Their offseason needs have included a wide receiver, pass rushers, and a cornerback to strengthen the secondary. Moving forward, bringing in a wide receiver must be a top priority to make up for the loss of Smith, who has been a key target for Joe Flacco.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns finished the 2014 season last in the division with a 7-9 record. Last season was filled with drama in Cleveland; with uncertainty at the quarterback position, suspensions, and off the field issues surrounding Johnny Manziel.
They’ve already signed quarterback Josh McCown, to help mentor Manziel, who is currently in a rehabilitation/treatment center, McCown looks to be the starting quarterback; but his lack of success could lead to the Browns seeking another QB to bring to camp this offseason.
Josh Gordon continues to face suspensions, so the Browns were in need of a wide receiver, and found one in Dwayne Bowe. They have also signed defensive back Tramon Williams, defensive lineman Randy Starks, quarterback Thad Lewis, and wide receiver Brian Hartline.
This organization has had its issues and has been dealing with a lot of off the field drama by their younger players. They’ve begun addressing their needs, but still need help with the offensive line, and wide receiving core.
