AFC North Week 5 Preview

Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts 1 PM

The Ravens at 3-1 will square off with the 2-2 Colts this Sunday and they hope to continue their recent success on the field.  Their offense has surprisingly performed pretty well even after losing key guys like Ray Rice and Dennise Pitta.  You can thank their stable of young talented running backs and a rejuvenated Steve Smith.

Baltimore is currently ranked seventh in points scored while the Colts defense is ranked 17th. I like Joe Flacco and Smith to continue their recent play.  If you haven’t already I would also suggest that you pick up Owen Daniels who took over at tight end, Flacco loves going to his tight end early and often.

However the battle will be on the other side of the ball as the Ravens defense is near the top of the league in points allowed.  They will be facing the number one scoring offense in the league as Andrew Luck and his squad try to keep their winning streak going.  Baltimore’s defense is fun to watch they play with an aggression you love to see in your defense.

Outcome Prediction: Ravens 24 - Colts 21

Cleveland Browns @ Tennessee Titans 1 PM

Well fantasy wise this might be a painful game to watch as two of the worst offenses in the league square off.  Brian Hoyer won the starting job this pre season and hasn’t thrown an interception! Unfortunately he also hasn’t thrown many touchdowns.

The issue is that the Browns don’t have many weapons on the offensive side of the ball. Jordan Cameron was supposed to be one of the top fantasy tight ends and that just hasn’t happened.  Your best bet would be to grab one of the Browns young running backs, but with Ben Tate being probable/questionable for todays game, who knows what the pecking order will be.  The safe bet would be to stay away from anyone of the Browns offense.

However the defense is again ranked in the top 10 of NFL defenses.  Its no secret that they have one of the most talented young units in the league.  Now this year they have been allowed more points and yards that what was expected, but they’ve played three very capable offenses.  I expect for them to firm up this week against a weak Tennessee offense.

Outcome Prediction: Browns 17 - Titans 10

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Jacksonville Jaguars 1 PM

Have any Steelers on your roster? you do? good that’s real good…..START THEM!  The Jaguars have proven to be one of the worst defenses in the league.  So far every team they’ve played has put up over 30 points and crazy stat lines.  The 0-4 Jaguars are the team you want to see on your teams schedule.

Especially if your team is the Pittsburgh Steelers one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL.   Ben Roethlisberger and his top target Antonio Brown have been tearing secondaries apart this year.  Brown has gone over 90 yards receiving in every game this year and 100 in two of them.  He and Roethlisberger have really changed the perception of the Steelers as a team that only runs the ball.

Unfortunately for Jaguars fans they have one of the best running backs in the NFL completing this three headed beast know as “Fluffy” (Any Harry Potter fans?). Leveon Bell is second only to DeMarco Murry in rushing yards.  Bell has really blossomed into the runner the Steelers have been looking for capable of running between the tackles and catching the ball out of the backfield.

Long story short, it can get pretty ugly today my friends. After watching the Washington Redskins pick the Jaguars apart with backups, I don’t have faith that they can stop one of the best units in the league.

Outcome Prediction: Steelers 45 - Jaguars 7

Cincinnati Bengals @ New England Patriots 8:30 PM

The Bengals are one of the last unbeaten teams in the NFL and look to improve to 4-0 this week in New England.  The Bengals rank number seven in points per game and have one of the top tandems in the league with Andy Dalton and A.J. Green.  Green considered one of the top receivers in the league looks to get back to dominating secondary today.

Along with Green running back Giovani Bernard has been one of the top fantasy running backs this year.  What makes Bernard so deadly is his talent as a receiver out of the backfield.  I like them against a Patriots team that seems to be lost.

This season has been tough on New England and for the first time in forever we are looking at a New England team that seems lost and broken.  Even the great Tom Brady seems to not know how to will his team out of the dumps anymore.  Many think this is the end of the Belichick/Brady era, and we’ll all get a front row seat tonight.  I would start Dalton, Bernard, and Green, expect them to take advantage of this lost New England team.

Outcome Prediction: Bengals 24 - Patriots 14
