We have a winner.
The Minnesota Vikings, in my personal opinion, made the biggest, most crucial splash in day one of free agency by landing former New York Giants defensive tackle Linval Joseph, by signing the mammoth 6'4'' 363 pound interior lineman to a five-year, $35 million deal.
In four years with the Giants, Joseph has appeared in 46 of 53 games, compiling 109 total tackles and nine sacks. In his 2013 contract year, Joseph had a solid season with 33 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.
Joseph fills a crucial need for the Vikings, who lost long-time defensive anchor Kevin Williams, a 2004 draft pick to free agency. The signing of Joseph gives the Vikings two young, efficient defensive tackles by pairing Joseph with 2013 first-round Sharrif Floyd. Look for Joseph to play most of his snaps at the one and three-technique, and also could see some time at nose tackle.
