Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was a surprise inactive Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Showing up on the injury report late during the week, the fourth-year quarterback has been dealing with a shoulder injury.
Indianapolis may have been playing it conservative by sitting Luck against a bad Jacksonville Jaguars team, and it worked well in a close Colts win. However, the larger question moving forward has to be Luck's availability against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.
The quick turnaround between games could indicate that Luck will set against Houston. However, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano wouldn't really delve too much into the situation following his team's win on Sunday:
“Andrew woke up this morning and wasn’t quite there and didn’t have the arm strength and all that stuff. We decided to go with Matt (Hasselbeck)," Pagano said. "He was trending in the right direction throughout the course of the week."
That doesn't necessarily clear up the situation moving forward. However, Pagano did speak specifically about Luck's outlook moving forward:
“We’re going to continue,’’ Pagano said. “He’s getting treatment right now. He’ll work out (Monday) and we’ll take it day-to-day and see where he’s at.’’
With only three days off between games, it's going to be interesting to see how Monday's work out goes. If Luck doesn't re-acquire his arm strength by then, it's a real possibility he won't be suiting up against Houston. It's definitely something we plan to keep an eye on over the next day or two.
