"Not again!"
"Oh no!"
Those were the sounds coming from the heart of Texas after Sean Lee suffered yet another injury that will keep him out for the 2014 campaign. Lee is one of the best inside linebackers in the NFL today, and the Cowboys will surely miss him in the middle of the defense.
Sean Lee's injury
How much does the loss affect them?
Wait...what?
Despite that statistic, the Cowboys are better off with Sean Lee in the lineup. There are a few reasons. Number one is Justin Durant. Durant has been a decent NFL player, and has incredible speed, but he will not be able to replace Lee's ability in the middle of the field.
Another reason is the fact that the Cowboys defense is already one of the worst in the NFL.
Salvadore said it best, not only did the Cowboys lose Lee, but they lost Demarcus Ware as well. Without Lee, Ware was still able to be the best player on the field for the Cowboys, but now there is no one to fill that void. Currently, the best player on the field when the Cowboys are on defense is Henry Melton. Now, Melton is a very good defensive tackle, but with no one next to him or behind him, it will be a long season for the Cowboys.
Currently, the three starting linebackers, accoring to Ourlads.com, for the Cowboys are: DeVonte Holloman, Justin Durant, and Bruce Carter. For those who are familiar with all three players, you that that is a lot of speed. But can they tackle?
In the NFL, your linebackers need to be able to wrap up the ball carrier. It sounds like a cliché, but in reality it is what separates an average linebacker from a good linebacker.
Lee is one of the best tacklers in the NFL, and without him, the Cowboys defense could struggle mightily.
