As NFL Roster Cuts Loom, Several Trades Finalized on Monday

With NFL teams set to cut their rosters to 75 by Tuesday, there have been some intriguing trades take place around the league on the eve of the deadline. We can also expect more deals occur between now and the deadline to cut team rosters to 53 prior to the start of the regular year.

Here are the trades that have taken place on Monday.

Denver Broncos trade offensive tackle Chris Clark to the Houston Texans

Clark, who started 21 games for the Broncos over the past two seasons, will act as the Texans swing tackle this season. The veteran lost out to rookie Ty Sambrailo for the starting left tackle job during camp. It's a surprising move for a Broncos team that could use more depth at tackle with Ryan Clady out for the season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers trade tight end Tim Wright to the Detroit Lions for kicker Kyle Brindza

Remember when Wright was considered an up-and-coming fantasy tight end? That seems like ages ago. After putting up 54 receptions for 571 yards for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2013, Wright was traded to the New England Patriots prior to the start of last year. He responded by putting up 26 receptions for 259 yards and six scores last season, at which point the Patriots placed him on waivers. Brindza, an un-drafted rookie free agent from Notre Dame, will take over the Buccaneers kicking duties this year.

Seattle Seahawks trade Kevin Norwood to the Carolina Panthers

Talk about a wasted draft pick. After selecting Norwood in the fourth round of the 2014 draft, the Seahawks saw the former Alabama standout put up just nine receptions as a rookie. On the verge of being cut prior to his second season with the team, Norwood now joins a Panthers squad that has a huge void to fill at wide receiver with Kelvin Benjamin lost for the season to a torn ACL. Though, based off what we have seen thus far in his career, it's unlikely that Norwood will make much of an impact here.

Jacksonville Jaguars trade kicker Josh Scobee to the Pittsburgh Steelers

After losing two kickers to serious injuries this summer, the Steelers pulled off a solid under-the-radar trade here. Selected in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL draft, Scobee had been the Jaguars primary kicker for the past 11 years, connecting on 81 percent of his field goals during that span.
