When Ben Roethlisberger went to the turf with what looked to be a serious knee injury in the second half on Sunday, the collective air was let out of the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. It's not because Big Ben was traded to the Rams in the middle of the game. Rather, an impressive Pittsburgh Steelers turnout was left wondering what might happen moving forward this season.
After all, the first thing that popped into the minds of everyone watching the game was that Roethlisberger suffered a torn ACL.
Fortunately for the Steelers, the two-time Super Bowl champion escaped with a sprained MCL, which means that he will likely miss four-to-six weeks. Not the best-case scenario, but much better than most of us anticipated when we saw the injury live.
With Roethlisberger sidelined for at least the next month, Pittsburgh will turn to Michael Vick to start under center. It's a less-than-ideal scenario considering Vick's lack of success over the past few years. It also comes at a time when Pittsburgh has to face the Baltimore Ravens, San Diego Chargers, Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs over the next four weeks.
Fantasy-wise, Vick might actually find himself as a decent DFS value play. As you already know, Pittsburgh boasts a ton of talent at the skill positions, which will make his job that much easier. Though, the Steelers tough upcoming schedule makes that risky.
