Ben Roethlisberger Undergoes Clean Up on Meniscus, Could Miss Just One Game

Concerns over Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's knee can be quieted to an extent. Big Ben did undergo surgery on Monday, but it was to perform a clean up on his inured meniscus. That's a much better end result than what would have potentially been a season-ending full repair. Roethlisberger will miss next week's game against the New England Patriots but could potentially be back after the team's Week 8 bye.

To say the Steelers and the larger fantasy football community dodged a bullet here would be an understatement. With Big Ben sidelined for next week's game, look for Le'Veon Bell to take on a larger role. Also expect a decrease in production from Antonio Brown with Landry Jones having to start in Roethlisberger's stead.

In any event, this is more of a short-term injury. If you're in a pickle this upcoming week, maybe pick up someone from a group that includes Brian Hoyer, Alex Smith or Marcus Mariota. If not, just ride whoever your QB2 is for the next two weeks, as Week 8 was already going to force you into using your bye week replacement.
