Ben Roethlisberger Won't Rule Out Playing in Week 7

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have put up an impressive all-around performance in a win against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. However, it didn't come with the team's quarterback situation any more settled than it was heading into the game.

Michael Vick had to exit the game in the first half with both a hamstring injury and an issue with his head after receiving a knee to the noggin. He was replaced by Landry Jones under center, who went on to put up 168 second-half yards.

With Vick's status up in the air and Jones not possessing any regular season success outside of what we saw on Sunday, the ability of Big Ben to suit up next week against the Kansas City Chiefs could loom large.

At 4-2 on the season, Pittsburgh is attempting to keep pace with an undefeated Cincinnati Bengals team. Having to rely on Jones, even against a lackluster Chiefs squad, would be less than ideal.

On that note, Roethlisberger did not rule himself out for next week's game:

“We’re going to tape it and brace it and I’m going to see what I can do,” Roethlisberger said after the Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. “My plan is to go out Wednesday and practice. We’ll see what happens. I know I’ve got to be smart about it. I’ve got to be able to defend myself. We’re just going to take it day by day."

It will be interesting to see how the practice week plays out. If Big Ben does indeed practice on Wednesday and moving forward in the week, he should be good to go against the Chiefs. We won't have much more in regards to updates until then.
