Ben Roethlisberger, Quarterback, Pittsburgh Steelers
Statistics: 522 passing yards, six touchdowns, zero interceptions and 44.78 points
Roethlisberger put up the single-best fantasy performance for a quarterback since Nick Foles tallied seven touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders in November of last season. In the process, Big Ben shattered Steelers single-game records for passing yards and touchdowns. To make matters even more amazing, he did it against what had been the league's fourth-best fantasy defense in the form of the Indianapolis Colts.
With both Markus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant seemingly in the process of stepping up big time, there is no reason to believe that Roethlisberger will slow down at any point soon.
Tom Brady, Quarterback, New England Patriots
Statistics: 343 passing yards, five touchdowns, zero interceptions and 34.16 points
If it wasn't for Big Ben, Brady's day would have claimed a lot of headlines around the football world. In throwing as many incomplete passes as touchdowns, this future Hall of Fame proved that he's nowhere near done as an above-average signal caller in the NFL. And while some will question whether this will lead to solid fantasy performances moving forward, it's important to note that Brady has now tallied an average of over 26 fantasy points in his last four starts.
With tough matchups coming up against good defenses in the form of the Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions, it is still too early to buy Brady as a must start each week. After all, he was going up against a Bears defense that ranked in the bottom fourth of the NFL against opposing quarterbacks. But we can't deny that he's making his mark in fake football right now.
Arian Foster, Running Back, Houston Texans
Statistics: 20 attempts, 151 yards, 22 receiving yards, three touchdowns and 39.30 points
Foster continues to dazzle in what has to be considered a comeback season for the veteran running back. After racking up a league-leading 39 fantasy points on Sunday against a pedestrian Tennessee Titans run defense, Foster is now the second-ranked fantasy running back (DeMarco Murray plays tonight) in the NFL.
Over the course of his last four games, Foster has racked up over 600 total yards and eight touchdowns. In those four games, he's put up more fantasy points than all but four other running backs have compiled all season. Yes, Foster is now back among the fantasy elite.
Matt Forte, Running Back, Chicago
Statistics: 19 attempts, 114 yards, 54 receiving yards, one touchdown and 30.80 points
Honestly, who didn't see this coming? As potentially the only bright spot on the Bears roster right now, Forte was expected to put up some rather big numbers against a New England Patriots defense that ranked 29th in the NFL against fantasy running backs coming in.
Even with the Bears down big in the second half, Forte continued to prove why he has the heart of a tiger. He never quit on the team, consistently ran hard and finished the day as the second-ranked fantasy running back. Now through eight games, Forte is on pace for well over 2,000 yards of total offense and 12 scores. What makes him such a dynamic fantasy option, especially in PPR leagues, is that Forte could very well finish that season with both 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards. That's truly amazing.
Jeremy Maclin, Wide Receiver, Philadelphia Eagles
Statistics: 12 receptions, 187 yards, two touchdowns and 42.70 points
Maclin's performance comes with a bit of an asterisk. He put up most of his yardage with Patrick Peterson sidelined with a concussion. Still, it's rather impressive to see a receiver gain nearly 200 yards receiving against what is a deep and talented Cardinals secondary.
On the heels of this 12-reception, 17-target performance, Maclin is now on pace for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season. Those are true WR1 numbers right there.
Antonio Brown, Wide Receiver, Pittsburgh Steelers
Statistics: 10 receptions, 133 yards, two touchdowns and 35.80 points
This can't be considered too much of a surprise. As one of the top receivers in the NFL, Brown just continues to dazzle onlookers with some pretty ridiculous statistics. Taking on a Colts team that was over-matched on the defensive side of the ball, Brown tallied 133 of Ben Roethlisberger's 522 passing yards on Sunday. Now through eight games, Brown's on pace for 120 receptions, 1,700 yards and 14 scores.
Rob Gronkowski, Tight End, New England Patriots
Statistics: nine receptions, 149 yards, three touchdowns and 41.90 points
Don't look now, but Gronk is suddenly the top-ranked fantasy tight end in the NFL. All it took was recording nine receptions on just as many targets and scoring three touchdowns against the Chicago Bears. And now fully healthy, Gronkowski should continue to excel from a fantasy perspective. There is little doubt about that.
