Cam Newton, Quarterback, Carolina Panthers
Newton finally delivered one of his best performances of the season after several weeks of dismal production. Passing for 226 yards and throwing three rushing, something he hasn’t done all season, had Newton putting up chart-topping fantasy numbers in Week 14. Let’s not forget Newton’s 83 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown for a grand total of 35.34 fantasy points. If you trusted Newton or started him in daily fantasy contests, he aimed high to please in Week 14.
Matt Ryan, Quarterback, Atlanta Falcons
Ryan had a spectacular game in Monday Night Football even though the Falcons lost to the Green Bay Packers. Playing behind all game long, Ryan gave a devoted effort to keep up with the competition be passing for 375 yards and throwing four touchdowns. With just one interception for all Ryan’s passing attempts had him nearly perfect and rewarding his fantasy owners with 31.30 fantasy points in Week 14. Ryan and the Falcons host the Pittsburgh Steelers next week where hopefully Ryan will continue his roll.
Le’Veon Bell, Running Back, Pittsburgh Steelers
Bell has been tearing it up on the field as of late as he boasted another phenomenal fantasy performance in Week 14. In his best game of the season, Bell dominated the offense rushing for 185 yards while totaling up 50 through the air. Scoring two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown had Bell’s fantasy owners completely over-joyed as he earned 41.5 fantasy points in Week 14.
DeMarco Murray, Running Back, Dallas Cowboys
Murray is a guy we see quite frequently on this list of best fantasy performances. However, Murray had his very best performance of the 2014 season in Week 14 against a Chicago Bears’ defense who was no matchup for the star back. Piling up 179 rushing yards on top of 49 receiving yards and scoring a rushing touchdown had Murray rewarding 28.8 fantasy points. Playing in the Week 14 Thursday night game Murray started his fantasy owners’ week off with a bang. Murray will face the Philadelphia Eagles once again in Week 15, where he should continue his hot streak.
Joique Bell, Running Back, Detroit Lions
Week 14 had Bell going off the charts reigning in his best fantasy football performance so far this season. Scoring both rushing and receiving touchdowns with Bell playing key roles as a rusher and pass-catcher, Bell tallied up 133 total yards. Tampa Bay’s weak rush attack was no match for Bell, who ended the day with a total of 25.3 fantasy points. Those who started Bell as a bargain play in daily fantasy leagues were extremely happy campers. Bell and the Lions host Minnesota in Week 15.
Julio Jones, Wide Receiver, Atlanta Falcons
Jones put up a monster of a fantasy performance in Week 14 in his Monday Night Football matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Even though the Falcons didn’t win, it wasn’t due to any lack of effort on Jones’ part. Jones was Matt Ryan’s favorite target, catching 11 of Ryan’s 17 attempted passes which had him ending the evening with 259 receiving yards. Throw in a touchdown and those who needed that Monday night boost to win in their fantasy leagues likely did with Jones’ 31.90 fantasy points.
A.J. Green, Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals
Green was on fire in Week 14 and finally gave his owners his best performance of the season. Turning 11 catches into 224 receiving yards and scoring an 81-yard touchdown, Green rewarded 28.4 fantasy points as he blazed through Pittsburgh’s unsuspecting defense. Green has been a bit unpredictable this season, however he finally came through and reminded those who drafted him as their WR1 why he was worth the pick. With this said, keep in mind Green faces the Cleveland Browns in Week 15 where five weeks ago he only managed three catches for 10 yards. So, plan your fantasy lineup wisely.
Jared Cook, Tight End, St. Louis Rams
If Cook was started in fantasy lineups or as a cheap tight end option in daily leagues, he certainly paid off in Week 14. Posting his best numbers of the season, Cook caught four of five of his targets for 61 yards and scored two touchdowns. For those who trusted starting him, Cook racked up 18.10 fantasy points against the Washington Redskins. Moving forward, Cook remains a risky starting option, however Week 15 has him facing the Arizona Cardinals who have allowed the most receiving yards to the tight end position this season.
Mychal Rivera, Tight End, Oakland Raiders
Week 14 saw Rivera with his best outing of the 2014 season. Spot-on perfect, catching all seven of his targets from rookie quarterback Derek Carr had Rivera posting 109 receiving yards which went a long quite nicely with his touchdown. The Raiders actually beat the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14, and Rivera certainly added to the team’s success. For those who decided to take a gamble on Rivera, he earned 16.9 fantasy points, perhaps helping cinch that playoff spot. Rivera and the Raiders travel to Kansas City in Week 15 to face the team that gave them their first win of the season four weeks ago.
