It’s hard to imagine that we’re already a fourth of the way through the 2013 NFL season. By now we have a more clear picture of how players will perform from week-to-week and likely need to fill some holes left by injured or underperforming players. Here are five guys that could be a helpful addition to your roster headed into Week 5.
Ryan Fitzpatrick - Quarterback, Tennessee Titans
Jake Locker was cruising on Sunday, when disaster struck in the form of a hip injury. Fitzpatrick stepped in and did nicely, compiling 108 yards and one touchdown - which was good for 23rd among quarterbacks with 8.12 fantasy points.
Let’s not forget that Fitzpatrick had success with the Buffalo Bills, and theres no reason to believe he can’t do a good job as the starter in Tennessee. If you are a Locker owner, have a quarterback not living up to expectations or need a quick plugin for a bye week, Locker is definitely worth a look. Right night he’s owned in less than one percent of all leagues, so he should be very easy to get.
LeGarrette Blount - Running Back, New England Patriots
The Patriots’ running game continues to frustrate fantasy owners everywhere. As of now, Blount looks to be the safest bet of the trio. He finished 15th among running backs this week with 64 rushing yards and a touchdown, good for 12.40 fantasy points.
Owners with problems at running back should definitely consider adding Blount. He’s only owned in 2.3 percent of all leagues, so chances are he’s an easy find.
Danny Woodhead - Running Back, San Diego Chargers
It was only a matter of time before Woodhead caught on in San Diego. He busted out in a big way in Week 4, amassing 32 rushing yards, 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns - which was fourth best among running backs with 20.60 fantasy points.
Ryan Mathews has been largely ineffective this season and Woodhead is a versatile weapon in the passing game. The Chargers will likely look to include him more moving forward. Woodhead is a great pickup, especially in PPR leagues. He’s owned in 17 percent of leagues and will be a hot commodity this week, so if you want him, this is probably your last chance to get him.
Nate Washington - Wide Receiver, Tennessee Titans
With Kenny Britt’s future status with the team in serious doubt, Washington gets a big boost in the offense, as we saw this past week with Britt missing the game due to injury. Washington put up four receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown, finishing as the second-best receiver with 22.50 fantasy points.
If Britt is indeed traded away, Washington becomes a surefire WR1 for the rest of the season. Even with Britt on the team, he’s still a solid WR2, so go get him if you need help in your receiver corp.
Coby Fleener - Tight End, Indianapolis Colts
The Colts offense just continues to cruise this season, and Fleener has stepped up nicely as an addition weapon for Andrew Luck. Fleener had a big day on Sunday, finishing as the fourth-best tight end with five receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown, good for 13.70 fantasy points.
If you’re in need of a boost at tight end, Fleener is a great option moving forward. He’s only owned in 20.1 percent of leagues, but will be another hot commodity - so get him now if you can.
