Week three is here and the injuries are continuing to occur around every corner. We'll take a look at some key fantasy football injuries for week three and break them down.
Andrew Luck, Quarterback, Indianapolis Colts (shoulder) - Carrying over from week two, Luck is "questionable" for this weekend's game against the Chargers. Despite sitting out practice on Wednesday, coach Chuck Pagano said that the team was simply "managing his reps". Luck will play this Sunday and should be a mid-tier QB1 against San Diego.
Russell Wilson, Quarterback, Seattle Seahawks (ankle) - After suffering an ankle injury in week one, Wilson played through it in week two despite the pain. He has practiced fully this week for their game against San Francisco and is in no danger of missing the game. He will be a high-end QB1 against a burnable 49ers defense.
Adrian Peterson, Running Back, Minnesota Vikings (knee) - Peterson suffered a torn meniscus in his knee during week two and was placed on the Vikings injured reserve Friday. He has already had surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the 2016 season. He can be dropped in re-draft leagues.
Doug Martin, Running Back, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (hamstring) - Martin suffered an injury during week two and it has been reported that he could miss up to three weeks. He was ruled out on Friday for this upcoming game against Rams and is going to be week-to-week. Keep him out of your lineups for the time-being as he may not be back until after week six.
Jonathan Stewart, Running Back, Carolina Panthers (hamstring) - After playing through an ankle injury in week two, Stewart suffered a hamstring injury in that game. He has been ruled out for week three and head coach Ron Rivera says he expects Stewart to miss "two to three weeks". He is unlikely to play in week four, so keep him out of your lineups for the foreseeable future.
Arian Foster, Running Back, Miami Dolphins (groin) - It was not a good sign seeing Foster suffer a soft-tissue injury in week two and not returning. But after not practicing all week, Foster has been ruled out for week three. With his week four game being that following Thursday, it's possible Foster misses that game as well. Keep him out of your line-ups for now.
Rashad Jennings, Running Back, New York Giants (thumb) - Jennings came out of week two dealing with a hand/thumb injury that resulted in him wearing a cast on it. He is listed as "questionable" for Sunday's game against the Redskins. NJ.com's Jordan Raanan reports that Jennings is expected to play with the cast. All signs point to him playing, but Sunday's inactive report will confirm one way or another.
Thomas Rawls, Running Back, Seattle Seahawks (shin) - After suffering a shin contusion during week two, Rawls didn't seem likely to miss much time. But after not practicing this week and being listed as "doubtful", he will likely not be playing on Sunday. Keep him on your bench and monitor him for week four.
Jamaal Charles, Running Back, Kansas City Chiefs (knee) - Despite Andy Reid mentioning that he could return in week three, Charles was listed as "doubtful" for this weekend's game against the Jets. Barring a miracle, Charles will be on the sidelines for yet another game. Keep viewing him as week-to-week.
Chris Ivory, Running Back, Jacksonville Jaguars (illness) - After being hospitalized and missing the first two weeks of the season, Chris Ivory appears ready for his Jaguars debut on Sunday. He is listed as "questionable" for the game but head coach Gus Bradley said Ivory was "heading into the right direction to play". He'll likely be on a snap count, but he'll be active on Sunday.
Julio Jones, Wide Receiver, Atlanta Falcons (calf, ankle) - While not practicing on Thursday or Friday, head coach Dan Quinn expressed optimism that Jones will suit up for week three. It is on Monday night, so Jones still could practice on Saturday. Regardless, he should play on Monday night against a injury-ravaged Saints defense.
Brandon Marshall, Wide Receiver, New York Jets (knee) - After hurting his knee in week two and leaving, Marshall came back into the game and finished it. He did miss practice on Wednesday and Thursday before getting in a limited session on Friday. Marshall is being called a "game-time decision" but him returning to practice on Friday is a good sign. He should play on Sunday but keep an eye out.
Sammy Watkins, Wide Receiver, Buffalo Bills (foot) - After missing practice all of this week, head coach Rex Ryan said Watkins' chances of playing are "not real good". He is dealing with issues regarding his surgically-repaired foot and is unlikely to suit up this week. This injury could linger all season, so consider him a "week-to-week" play.
Alshon Jeffery, Wide Receiver, Chicago Bears (knee) - After getting in a limited practice on Wednesday and missing practice on Thursday, Jeffery returned to practice on a limited basis. Head coach John Fox said Jeffery is dealing with "general knee soreness". He seems likely to play this weekend but could be a game-time decision. Considering he plays on Sunday night, have a contingency in place just in case.
T.Y. Hilton, Wide Receiver, Indianapolis Colts (knee) - Despite sitting out of practice on Friday, head coach Chuck Pagano said Hilton was held out to "get some rest". He also said that Hilton "will be fine". He doesn't appear to be in any danger of missing week three against the Chargers and could have a larger role with Donte Moncrief out.
Donte Moncrief, Wide Receiver, Indianapolis Colts (shoulder) - Speaking about Moncrief, he suffered a shoulder injury in week two and it was determined he suffered a fractured scapula. Head coach Chuck Pagano said that Moncrief will be out "four-to-six weeks", so keep him out of your line-ups for the foreseeable future.
Doug Baldwin, Wide Receiver, Seattle Seahawks (knee) - After injuring his knee in week two, Baldwin was limited on Wednesday before returning to full practices on Thursday and Friday. He is not listed on the Seahawks injury report and will be good to go on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, Wide Receiver, Seattle Seahawks (knee) - Lockett also suffered a knee injury in week two, like Baldwin. He also was limited in practice on Wednesday before returning to full practice on Thursday and Friday. While he is listed as questionable, he will suit up on Sunday.
DeVante Parker, Wide Receiver, Miami Dolphins (hamstring) - Parker returned in week two after missing week one with a hamstring injury. He was limited in practice all week but is listed as "questionable" for week three. Despite that, he is in no danger of missing week three's match-up against the Browns.
Corey Coleman, Wide Receiver, Cleveland Browns (hand) - Coleman suffered a broken hand in practice this week, the team announced. He is not expected to need surgery but will be out for the next four to six weeks while recovering. Keep him out of your line-ups for now.
Willie Snead, Wide Receiver, New Orleans Saints (toe) - Snead did not practice on Friday with his toe injury. While there doesn't seem to be much concern over his availability for week three, Saturday's practice will be telling of his status. Since he plays on Monday night, have a contingency plan in place just in case.
Delanie Walker, Tight End, Tennessee Titans (hamstring) - Walker did not practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday and then missed practice again on Friday. While he is listed as questionable, he will be a true game-time decision. He has a solid match-up against the Raiders but his status is up in the air right now.
Zach Ertz, Tight End, Philadelphia Eagles (ribs) - After suffering a displaced rib in week one, Ertz sat out of week two's game and did not practice at all this week. He has been ruled out for week three and this remains a week-to-week situation. Keep him out of your line-ups for the time being.
Antonio Gates, Tight End, San Diego Chargers (hamstring) - Gates has missed practice all week while dealing with a hamstring injury. He is listed as "doubtful" for the game against the Colts on Sunday, so he is not expected to play. Pick up Hunter Henry if needed, as he will start in Gates' place. His status will be week-to-week for the time being.
Tyler Eifert, Tight End, Cincinnati Bengals (ankle) - Eifert got in some limited practice sessions this week as he continues to recover from off-season ankle surgery. While this is a good sign, Eifert is listed as "doubtful" for this weekend and will not play. He could return in week four but considering it's a Thursday night game, it's not set in stone. He is still week-to-week for the time being.
Eric Ebron, Tight End, Detroit Lions (back) - While he missed practice on Wednesday, Ebron got a limited session in on Thursday and completed a full practice on Friday. He is listed as questionable for week three but he will suit up in a plus match-up versus the Packers.
