Bishop Sankey Getting Majority of First-Team Reps for the Titans

Many people expected Bishop Sankey to put up a productive rookie season after the Tennessee Titans made him a second-round pick back in the 2014 NFL draft. Unfortunately, the buzz he generated leading up to the 2014 season didn't translate to the field. The 5-foot-10 running back averaged just 3.7 yards per rush in what was a disappointing rookie campaign.

This doesn't mean the Titans are giving up on the second-year ball carrier.

Per the Titans official website, Sankey is receiving a majority of the first-team reps in training camp. Though, it must be noted that he's not necessarily facing top-end competition here. Tennessee picked up former Minnesota running back David Cobb in the fifth round this past June. Former un-drafted free agent Antonio Andrews, in his second NFL season, is also looking to get some touches in the backfield this season.

In addition to his 3.7 yards per carry average, Sankey put up just 18 receptions for 133 yards as a rookie. That was extremely disappointing after many had him pegged as one of the top receiving running backs in the 2014 NFL draft.

While there isn't much to take from this bit of news, Sankey offers the most fantasy upside in what is a talent-stricken Titans backfield. He will most likely be the primary ball carrier with the physical Cobb making his impact in short-yardage situations. Despite his starter designation, Sankey's current ADP has him as the 42nd running back off the board (11th round). He might be worth a value play there.
