Teddy puts together a 7 play 83 yards drive for the go ahead score with a 3 yard line Rodney Smith TD pass with 27 seconds left on the clock.  

27 seconds shotgun trips left, Teddy rolls out right and pass goes out of bounds while TE Reisner fell to the ground...

Second down..Rodney Smith gets away with push off and comes down with the ball and the call is a TD.

Teddy drops back, has time, and lets one fly down left sideline thats caught on jump ball by Rodney Smith for a 25 yard pass.  

Teddy with pressure in his face makes incredible throw on the sideline as defender dragging him down, completes pass to Thielen with illegal hit that tacts on another ten yards.  

Ball on 2 yard line with 27 seconds...

Teddy starts drive on a Rodney Smith crossing route.  Gets out of bounds after a catch and run for 10 yards and a first down. Teddy chants growing lounder. 

Next play Teddy finds Smith on virtually the same exact play but oppostie direction.  This one goes for six yards after he gets out of bounds. (Teddy takes big hit from blitz)

Teddy starts 3-3, this one to Jarius Wright on 12 yards catch.  Wright fails to get out of bounds on play, Vikings use second time out.

49 yards in 5 plays was drive lenth and time.  

Does Teddy come back out or is it Ponder's time now? How bad do the Vikings want to win this game should tell you your answer...

The play is confirmed and the Cardinals retake the lead with a score of 28-24.  What a finish here at TCF stadium. 

On fourth down and game on the line the Cardinals botch the snap out of shot gun formation with five wide outs.  The ball squirts out of a pile and is picked up by Arizona and ran in for a touchdown.  Will the play stand??

With the Cardinals offense staying on the field and the game on the line (1:20 left in the game) the Vikings choose to take their first timeout to prepare their defense.  

Third and goal coming after two incompleted passes from R. Lindley.  The last one on a fade covered by Sherels.  

CB Posey breaks up pass, and now has fourth down coming... Arizona staying on the field.

Huge penalty on deep pass called for PI with 1:30 remaining.  Cardinals can now tie the game w FG and win w TD.  

Teddy Bridgewater finshes the night 10-13 102 yards and a touchdown.  A steady improvement off of last week where the rookie made plenty of rookie mistakes while flashing his first round talent.  Quick reads and accurate thrown balls led to a consistent night for Teddy who continues to learn behind Matt Cassel as the backup. 

Vikings continue to try and run clock out.  Cardinals call timeout right before two minute warning down 24-21.  They have one timeout remaining with 2:14 left.

Third time ive seen Norv split his RB out wide, this time Teddy goes to him (Dominique Williams) who makes first man miss for a first down.  

Vikings get the ball back with just under four minutes left in the game as Bridgewater trots back out on the field. 

Oh how one year can change things, Christian Ponder was the clear cut starter now looks like he wont even get a snap tonight.  

On fourth down out of timeout, Cardinals called for offsides.. makes it fourht and eight as punting unit comes back out on the field. 

Cardinals set up to go for it on fourth down near mid field, but Lindley forced to use a time out.  

Cardinals continue to try and pound down the Vikings defensive line, this time Brandon Watts sniffs it out for a two yard loss.  

Watts in one of many late round draft picks that has seen ample playing time this season thus far.  Coach Zimmer clearly doesnt mind inexpierence for pure athleticsim.  

With just 7 minutes and change left in the game, still no Logan Thomas for the Cardinals as R. Lindley continues to stay under center.  

After a quick strike for a first down, Arizona pulls out some trickery with a double reverse for a first down.  Jamarca Sanford on the tackle after a gain of close to 20.  

Cardinals take a knee for a touchback after touchdown by Teddy Bridgewater.  Cardinals face their first defict of the ball game down 24-21 after succesful 2 PT conversion by Vikings. 

Teddy hits Allen Reisner for TD and follows it up with 2 PT conversion to Jarius Wright.  Wright had huge catch on drive that got team down inside the five yard line.  

Teddy extremley efficent on drive.  9-12 91 yards and a touchdown. Kid tested, crowd approved.  

After a penalty, Vikings have first down from the four yard line.  

Joe Baynard with a rush for one yard. 

Second and goal from the three yard line.

Teddy in shotgun with crowd chanting his name finds Allen Reisner for a touchdown.  Crowd loves it. \

23-21 Vikings take the lead for first time tonight. 

After a run for little to nothing (Cardinals DTs with great pursuit) on second down Teddy floats one into endzone after Thielen put great move on defender at line of scrimmage, but cant hold on. 

Great touch by Teddy who put the ball right in Thielens bread basket. 

Next play, guess who? 16 yard completion from Teddy to Thielen again on deep button hook. 

Next play Teddy escapes sack and find TE Allen Reisner for 13 yards and another first down.  

Teddy 6-6

Teddy starts out this drive looking right, throwing right but short to RB for close to no gain.  However, on the following play Teddy works off PA and hits MR. Mankato WR Thielen for 15 yards on skinny post inbetween the hashes.  

For all you fantasy oweners in deeper leagues, Cardinlas gave RB R. Huges 9 carries in the third quarter resulting for 26 yards.  On the other bench Vikings RB Joe Baynard had 4 carries 62 yards (long of 56 yards).

Audie Cole lays down big hit on TE screen by Cardinals.  Third Down Arizona comes out trips WR left, draw to RB.  DE Corey Wooten gets first penetration and stops him for no gain, resulting in fourth down and a punt to Vikings 32 yard line.  39 yard punt no return. 

On third down, Teddy out of shotgun faces all out blitz, throws into one-on-one coverage to Simpson on fade into corner of endzone.  Good coverage by Cardinals CB (missed who it was) to force fourth down.  Blitz throws off Teddy's timing who had to get rid of ball instantly..

After Baynards long run, Norv gives him the ball two more times inside five yard line, but hes stuffed by a Cardinals second team defensive line that has played exceptionally well thus far.  Third down coming up once action resumes for the start of the fourth quarter.  

RB Joe Baynard pulls out a 56 yard run from his hat, after he bounced back outside when original hole was closed up quickly. 

After a false start by undrafted free agent offensive tackle Antonio Richardson, Teddy works off of PA, has plenty of time, cant find anyone down field and hits RB out of flat who makes man miss and gains 8 yards.  Second down and seven coming up...

Teddy hits Thielen again, this time on quick come back route near sideline for nine yards.  First down Vikings.  Teddy 3-3. 

Teddys first throw from scrimmage comes from own 11 yard line, and hits Adam Thilen off a play action pass.  Quick read by Teddy who hits back foot and gets rid of ball quickly.  

Teddy Bridgewater steps into huddle looking to build off of his first NFl action from last Friday.  Second team offense for the Vikings includes TE Higgins, WR Adam Thielen and Jerome Simpson, RB Joe Baynard.

Cardinals try run up the middle for what seems like 88th time this drive (and you cant blame them), but stopped by Jasper Brinkley for no gain.  However, on second down the run up the middle (yes again) works, as Robert Hughes plunges in over the stripe for the touchdown.  Cardinals take 21-13 lead.. Play being reviewed. 

After a nine yard quick slant caught by Walt Powell the Cardinals are down to the Vikings one yard line.  Sherels on the coverage. 

Cardinals face another fouth down, they convert on another run up the middle.  Jasper Brinkley back in the game, playing with the second team defense for Audie Cole. 

Cardinals continue to chew up ground and clock on ground in a variety of ways.  This time on a delayed draw from a shot gun set. 

Fourth and inches for the Cardinals is converted on a three yard run up the middle.  Battle in the trenches wins this game.  Arizonas second team better than Vikings second tea on that play.

Its a shame Cardinals guard Jonathan Cooper isnt back on the field yet.  Last years seventh overal pick was primed for instant success unitl a broken leg kept him out of his entire rookie year.  Team still bringing him along slowly, but will be a hige addition to the offense when he finally returns healthy.  

Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings Halftime Notes

Matt Cassel has been the most consistent player for the Vikings on the offensive side of the ball since training camp starter, and Matt has continued his momentum in both of his preseaosn games.  Cassel played just a couple of series last week and finsihed with an impressive 5 for 6, and was inches away from a touchdown when Kyle Rudolph was knocked out inside the one yard line.  Tonight Cassel connected with Rudolph again, this time cashing in on six points with the tight end.  In fact, Cassel connected with Rudolph four times in just two quarters for 89 yards and a long of 51 yards (on his touchdown play).  

Total for the night Cassel finished with 153 yards and 12 for 16 passing.  At this point there in no doubt Cassel will be the teams week one starter against the St. Louis Rams, even with the pressure of first-round rookie Teddy Bridgewater breathing down his neck.  The team feels more than comfortable with Cassel leading the offense, as he has clearly grasped Norv Turners playbook, while adding a veteran presense in the huddle.  

Carson Palmer started out hot after his first drive was pinned back inside his own ten yard line.  After strikes to Larry Fitzgerald and Jaron Brown, Palmer handed off to Andre Ellington for an easy score.  The Cardinals added another touchdown when Drew Stanton lofted a pass to the endzone to his tight end Darren Fells who beat Chad Greenway and Kurt Coleman on the jump ball.  

Keep an eye out for Bridgewater and fellow rookie Logan Thomas who had the best week of any rookie at his position in week one of the preseason. 

Everson Griffen with the pressure off the edge to force Palmer to step up in pocket where rookie Anthony Barr uses reach and length to strip ball (recovered by Arizona) First Half in the books, 14-13 Cardinals with the lead. 

Palmer sniffs out zone defense and exploits Chad Greenway's coverage abilities hitting Brown on out pattern from slot for a first down.  

Palmer has an open J Brown on a skinny post from the slot 20 yards down field but Brown drops the ball.  Third down coming...

After a chip shot FG by Blair Walsh Cardinals lead the Vikings by a score of 14-13 with 50 seconds left in the first half. 

Two minute offense for the Vikings starts with a quick stike to Greg Jennings who had nothing but green infront of him form the slot, but Jerrud Powers made a shoe string tackle to save six points.

After forcing fourth down on a goal line stand, Palmer rolls out on PA and throws jump ball to TE Darren Fells who beats Chad Greenway and Kurt Coleman for TD

J. Brown conitnues the madness, this time on deep route over Xavier Rhodes for close to 50 yard gain.

Sory Viks fans hes no Antoine Winfield, but Marcus Sherels has been and continues to be extremely physical for being so undersized (5'9" 185lbs).  Great tackle inside the box on run there.

Blair Walsh continues his inability to adjust to TCF stadium from the Metrodome... bounces this 51 yard FG off the left upright #lacesout

LB Alex Okafor with great block shedding who takes down Asiata for huge loss on run to the outside 

Vikings CB Shaun Prater being evaluted for head injuries... return is questionable. 

Before touchdown; Cassel finishes first quarter 5-7 for 49 yards

After a completion to Greg Jennings on a quick slant for first down, Asiata has trouble lining up in right spot so Cassel forcedto take timeout. 

Cassel hits Patterosn on shallow crossing route for four yards.  Cassel looks good in pocket hitting back step and throwing with veloctity and accuracy.  Key to succes has been balance with succesful run game. 

Cassel remains in game for Vikings as planned.. 

On third down Everson Griffen shows off speed as he chases Palmer down on a scramble to his right and has to throw it away.  Griffen almost has a safety on the play.  Punt to mid field.. Vikings take over after commecial break...

On kick off Cardinals return man takes ball out as teammate tells him to stay in.  Result of play is the Birds on the five yard line to start their drive.  First play is run to the right that is swallowed by Everson Griffen.  Next play Xavier Rhodes dishes out a lick to tightend who holds onto ball for nine yards but has to pay the price for it. 

On touchdown pass, it looked as though a defender slipped/held up at last second to avoid big collision, similar to the hit Gronkowski took when injuried his knee last year. 

Again, Norv's system tailored for getting the tight-end the ball  Even with dropped touchdown pass, as a whole through two quarters of preseason action, Rudolph has been the focal point of gameplan. Keep in mind Adrian Peterson has sat out. 

First quarter over, internet back up and running. Vikings w ball at mid field... Cassel rips one to Rudolph on deep post, gets great block and takes it to the house down the sideline for 50 yard TD

After a quick march for seven points Cardinals kick off to Mckinnon who breaks a tackle at the 20 and is dragged down at the 28.  Penalty on the play, offside on the kicking team, five yard penalty.  36 yard return. 

Cardinals march ball down to one yard line on quick drive that started at own 8 yard line.  Rhodes shuts down Fitzgerald on fade into left side of endzone. On third down Gerald Hodges got smoked as the outside contain linebacker and allowed Ellington to walk into the endzone on a sweep play.

Palmer lines Brown up opposite side of field and tries quick screen again but poorly thrown ball.  Harrison Smith makes great tackle for loss on next play on draw to Andrew Ellington.  On third down Palmer hits RB out of flat for 16 yards.  Bad angle my Captain Munnerlyn on the play.  

Cardinals throw ball twice deep from own territory, second goes for big yardage to Larry Fitzgerald over the middle, covered by Marcus Sherels.  John Brown takes a quick screen for close to 50 yards on next play.  

Chris Crocker next to Harrison Smith with Barr, Greenway, and Brinkley your LBs in 4-3 base defense.  Brian Robison, Sharif Floyd, Fred Evans, Everson Griffen the starting defensive line.  Captain Munnerlyn and Xavier Rhodes the starting cornerbacks.

Block in the back penatly puts ball back on nine yard line. 

Cassel throws deeo on right sideline for Patterson who has step on his defender but cant come up with the ball.  May have been fighting the sun.  Punting unit comes out to the field. 

Cassel starts 1-1 on strike to Kyle Rudolph for 17 yards and a first down.  Tight-end plays prominent role in Norv Turners offense and weve seen that in the their gaes thus far.  

Jerick Mckinnon takes the kick off out of endzone to the 26 yard line.  Had huge hole after cutting to the right outside, but ran into Ryan Thielen. 

Cardnials win opening coin toss... 0-1 on my prop bets 

Expect Teddy Bridgewater to take over after halftime and play the majority of the remainder of the game.  Bridgewater looked like a rookie quarterback in his first game showing good reads and throws, followed by hesitance and inconsistencies. With Cassel set to start week one, the team seems comfortable in easing Bridgwater into the starting lineup at a casual pace. 

After one of the most consistent training camps of anyone on the team, Matt Cassel will play lose to the entire first half.  Cassel has stretched the gap from Teddy Bridgewater from big to bigger and is the clear cut favorite to start week one against St. Louis Rams. 

Adrian Peterson will sit out again while Matt Asiata takes his place.  Fred Evans takes Linval Joeseph place at nose tackle, and as mentioned, Chris Crocker will step in for Robert Blanton at safety.
