Former Ohio State quarterback turned wide receiver Braxton Miller has been impressing scouts and NFL teams down in Mobile during practice for Sunday's Senior Bowl.
The electric athlete took time to talk to the media following Wednesday's practice.
Here are the highlights from his media session:
Q: What separates you from the other receivers in the draft?
A: I felt great all season, but now I feel even better. I’m here to show you guys what I’m capable of in terms of playing inside receiver or outside receiver going against the best defensive backs. I knew I wanted to come here and check a lot of things off after leaving the Senior Bowl.
Q: What’s the difference in the weight you’re at now compared to when you were playing quarterback?
A: It feels a lot better at 204, especially on my legs. I can tell I have a lot more energy and I’m a lot more explosive and I feel like a receiver now. When I was at 215 pounds, I was kind of struggling with the conditioning.
Q: Do you think of yourself as a quarterback at all anymore?
A: For now on, I’m a receiver. That’s how I think now and all I want to do now is be the best I can possibly be. I’m still working on my craft everyday. Some of the stuff comes naturally, but I still got to work on the technique.
Q: What have you heard from NFL Scouts so far about packages you could be involved in?
A: I feel like every team needs playmakers and they’ve mentioned that I can do it all whether it’s being a punt returner, in the backfield as a decoy and playing on the outside. It’s a great feeling being able to do all that stuff and still learn so much at the same time.
Q: How difficult was the transition from quarterback to wide receiver?
A: The only thing getting used to was my legs. That was one of the main things I was struggling with. In camp, I strained both my hamstrings and I knew something wasn’t right. I made a transition to change my diet before the Virginia Tech game and I shed a lot of pounds and body fat.
Q: Are there any cornerbacks that caught your attention through the first couple of practices?
A: My man from Minnesota (Eric Murray) is really aggressive. I asked him how many flags he got this year. We’re cool out there though. Him and the guy from Virginia (Maurice Canady). It’s competitive so it’s fun.
Q: What do you want your time to be at the NFL Combine in the 40-yard dash?
A: It’s going to be a low 4.3, but I want to run 4.28 seconds. I feel like I’m capable because I ran 4.36 when I was 215 pounds and I had bad eating habits too. Now I’m on a strict diet, working out and training hard.
