Millions of NFL fans spend months in desperate anticipation of the one weekend in April that will shape your favorite team’s future for the next decade or so. Did the Jets hit a homerun by landing quarterback Geno Smith in the second round? What about the Bengals getting offensive lineman Reid Fragel on day three? Below is a list of my 20 most favorite picks in the entire 2013 NFL Draft.
1) Philadelphia Eagles: Lane Johnson, offensive tackle, Oklahoma -- Johnson gives Head Coach Chip Kelly a versatile, athletic lineman for his high-octane offense.
2) Tennessee Titans: Chance Warmack, offensive guard, Alabama -- Warmack provides protection for valuable running back Chris Johnson and young quarterback Jake Locker
3) New Orleans Saints: Kenny Vaccaro, safety, Texas -- Vaccaro gives the Saints a Troy Polamalu type of presence in the secondary.
4) Cincinnati Bengals: Tyler Eifert, tight end, Notre Dame -- Eifert is a freakish athlete at tight end that gives Bengals versatility in the passing game
5) San Francisco 49ers: Marcus Lattimore, running back, South Carolina --The 49ers now have the perfect replacement for Frank Gore; The next Adrian Peterson.
6) Cleveland Browns: Barkevious Mingo, outside linebacker, LSU -- Mingo, while raw, can come in right away and contribute to an already stout defense, and make them instantly better.
7) Philadelphia Eagles: Matt Barkley, quarterback, USC -- Barkley has no pressure to play or win right away. Can sit behind Michael Vick and Nick Foles while digesting the playbook.
8) New York Giants: Ryan Nassib, quarterback, Syracuse -- Okay, so you didn’t go first round, so what? You’ll now get to sit behind one of the best quarterbacks in the league to develop. winning.
9) Buffalo Bills: Robert Woods, wide receiver, USC -- The Bills now have a polished rookie who can contribute opposite of Stevie Johnson to help smooth EJ Manuel’s transition to the NFL
10) Cincinnati Bengals: Reid Fragel, offensive tackle, Ohio State -- Fragel should have gone mid-to-late day two at best, absolute steal and immediate starting RT caliber for Bengals
11) Green Bay Packers: Johnathan Franklin, running back, UCLA -- Franklin is arguably the most complete back in this entire draft. Just another toy in Aaron Rodgers toybox.
12) New York Giants: Jonathan Hankins, defensive tackle, Ohio State -- The Giants get arguable the best run-stopping defensive tackle in the entire draft.
13) Pittsburgh Steelers: Markus Wheaton, wide receiver, Oregon State -- Wheaton could challenge Emmanuel Sanders for his job...and win it.
14) Pittsburgh Steelers: Le’Veon Bell, running back, Michigan State -- Bell is the perfect back for what the Steelers are looking for.
15) Denver Broncos: Quanterus Smith, defensive end, Western Kentucky -- The Broncos chose to e-mail this pick into the commissioner, they lost their last defensive end due to a fax. When healthy, Smith is a serious threat to be one of the top ends in this draft class.
16) Philadelphia Eagles: Jordan Poyer, cornerback, Oregon State -- How in the world did Poyer fall to the seventh round? who cares, Chip Kelly robbed the entire league of a great talent.
17) St. Louis Rams: Tavon Austin, wide receiver, West Virginia -- Austin can be a dynamic threat for the Rams... they just need to figure out how to use him the right way.
18) San Diego Chargers: Manti Te’o, linebacker, Notre Dame: Te’o is in a perfect place to completely rid himself of the entire hoax scandal. Everyone in San Diego just wants to see him play.
19) Minnesota Vikings: Sharrif Floyd, defensive tackle, Florida: Sharrif Floyd in the early twenties? just highway robbery at it’s finest.
20) Indianapolis Colts: Bjoern Werner, defensive end, Florida State: I’d say you did a pretty good job when you got the best defensive end in the entire draft, by far, in the mid-20's of the first round.
