Broncos Confirm Peyton Manning will Start Playoff Game

The Denver Broncos confirmed on Thursday what most of us already knew heading in. Peyton Manning, not Brock Osweiler, will be the team's starting quarterback when it kicks off its postseason slate next weekend.

Manning, 39, had been out with a foot injury since Week 10 prior to making an appearance in the team's season finale last week.

When Manning exited the lineup back in mid-November he led the NFL with 17 interceptions. Though, the future Hall of Famer did re-enter the equation after he replaced an ineffective Osweiler in the Broncos first-round bye clinching win over the San Diego Chargers in Week 17.

Manning led the Broncs from behind, completing 5-of-9 passes with out a touchdown or an interception in the process.

That came immediately after Osweiler and the Broncos committed four first-half turnovers to fall behind against the last-place Chargers.

It will be interesting to see if Gary Kubiak and Co. have a short hook with Manning.

Though, it surely didn't sound that way on Thursday:

"I just do what I think is best for our football team," Kubiak said. "I feel really good about this, about how far Peyton has come."

Denver will face the highest seed between the two AFC wild card teams that win this weekend.
