Bruce Arians: David Johnson is the Odd-Man out in Cardinals RB Rotation

With Andre Ellington healthy and ready to go for the first time since Week 1 and Chris Johnson taking over the starting duties, Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians had a tough decision (or so we thought) to make regarding the team's running back situation.

Seemingly as hard on rookie running back David Johnson as any other player on the team, Arians indicated through the Cardinals' official website on Wednesday that the first-year player will be the odd-man out of the rotation moving forward this season:

“It’s not hard, because the young guy (David Johnson) sits down," Arians said regarding who will take a back steat with Ellington back in the fold.

As rough around the edges as these comments might have been, Arians has never been one to stray away from bluntly speaking the truth.

The moral of the story here. The younger Johnson, who has put up a few electrifying plays thus far this season, won't be seeing much action unless one of the two veterans above him is injured.

From a fantasy perspective, it's rather clear that the rookie is now a must avoid, at least over the short term. With over 300 yards and two touchdowns in his past three games, the older Johnson becomes a viable DFS start, especially with his value still set relatively low.
