Can Denarius Moore Step Up in 2013?

Wide receiver Denarius Moore enters his third season in the pros with the Oakland Raiders and is no doubt one of their biggest offensive weapons.  Moore has showed improvement from 2011 to 2012 and the trend will continue for the young receiver.

In his rookie season, Moore played in 13 games, had 33 receptions for 618 yards and five touchdowns.  Last year, he played in 15 games and had 51 receptions for 741 yards with seven touchdowns.

The past two seasons, Moore had Carson Palmer as his quarterback This year, the Raiders starting quarterback is still somewhat unknown, but it’s Matt Flynn’s job to lose.  The Raiders are definitely going to need Moore to step up and be a leader on the team.

Moore’s success will be dependent on the quarterback and the accuracy of the passes.  Flynn has only started two games despite being in the NFL for six years now.  Flynn has thrown for 1,083 yards and has nine touchdown passes in his career.  Unless Terrelle Pryor or Tyler Wilson really step it up in camp, Flynn will be Moore’s quarterback in 2013.

He’s shown improvement each season and has the ability to be a much needed leader on the offense.  Darrius Heyward-Bey is now out of the picture and Moore is the Raiders top receiver for this season.  Moore has the athleticism  and speed to be a dynamic receiver for the silver and black and they’ll need him to be just that, especially now that Heyward-Bey is gone.  The only concern for Moore goes back to the quarterback position.

Moore has the ability to get down field, but he’ll need a quarterback who can get him the ball.  Flynn isn’t known to have a good arm, but Moore is a fine player who has made many big plays for the Raiders the past two seasons.

Raider Nation has some big expectations for Moore and they should.  He’s a guy who has a lot of potential and now is his time to shine as the number one receiver for the silver and black.  Moore will rise to the occasion as he will greatly help the Raiders offense with his agility and ability to make game-changing plays.
